A roundup for what seemed to be an endless supply for boxing.

Homegrown John Duddy improves his undefeated record in a cagey fight, beating Alession Furlan by TKO in the 10th. Paul McCloskey also improves his undefeated record. Overall - it's without dispute that boxing in Ireland has been on a mega rise in the last 2 years after a long period of nothingness.

Across the pond in Atlantic City, Kermit Cintron defended his IBF welterweight title in a dominating fashion, taking out Walter Dario Matthysse in the second. A man of many wars, Arturo Gatti was outclassed from the start against Contender standout, Alfonso Gomez. Gomez disected Gatti from the start and finished him in the 7th by a clean knockout. Gatti announced his retirement after the fight.

Roy Jones Junior fans will be pleased with Roy etching a W back on his record, with his win over Anthony Hanshaw. Hanshaw tried to muscle RJJ around, but Jones caught Hanshaw in the 11th with a knockdown to cement his win by Uni decision in the 12th for the IBC LHW title.

The often avoided, Antonio Margarito had his hands full against Paul Williams and from the get go, the two guys threw punches in bunches until the final bell. Williams average over 100 punches per round at the end of the fight, and won the unanimous decision for the WBO welterweight title. Back to the drawing board for Margarito and Paul Williams now has his time to shine to become more well known to the mainstream fans.

Amir Khan was in for a tough night against Willie Limond. Limond sent Khan to the canvas in the 6th round.. Khan came back strong and damaged Limond to the brink of a doctor's stoppage, which is what happened in the 8th.

Anyways, it was hard to keep track of boxing this week. So many fights. There's my quick roundup for anyone who has missed anything.

    John.

Duddy was'nt that impressive last night , was he ?

Have been searching hard over the net to find his fight with Yuri boy campas,....... one of the most thrilling boxing matches ever in terms of pure entertainment !

the Italian had a "mad-looking" head on him didnt he?

Nah Duddy wasn't at his best, but I think it was Furlan's defensive style that made Duddy look bad. Some fighter's have that effect.

His fight with Campas was great. I had it on my old PC, don't have it anymore. Sorry man.
