Wireless Woes!

Got a Macbook yesterday. Running latest everything. Only problem is that my wireless cuts out every few minutes when running on battery, which needs a restart to resolve. I'm still getting full signal from Airport, my router is a new eircom one which is fully up to date. I've done a bit of a Google for it, and it seems this problem is widespread. I tried a couple of the 'fixes' online but no go.

Anyone had this problem and sorted it out? If so, can you go through it step by step, because, while I may be a whizz on a Windows based system, I've only had a Mac for 24 hours so I'm only average :)

I presume this doesn't happen when you connect it by enternet?

Yup, it works fine when connected by ethernet. No drop outs or anything. My girlfriend has a slightly higher spec Macbook as well (2.1Ghz to 2.0Ghz, 1024 RAM to 512 RAM) and she's getting download speeds of 73kb/s on Azerurus, where I'm getting 2kb/s. I'm running 10.4.10, she's running 10.4.9.

Think I'll just back up my transferred files and revert back to 10.4.9....
