    hi all,
don't know if this qualifies as a bargain alert notice or not but I thought I'd post it up anyway in case.
Was browsing on the wiffy.ie forums (think I clicked a link in someones boards.ie sig, anyway..) and I found this new Irish service for renting video games.
    SOrt of like Netflix.
    Tis here: http://gamesenders.ie
suits me as I'm not much of a gamer and lose interest in games pretty quickly. The Wii I got was an impulse buy :-)
Wii sports is great. Zelda is annoying (got it half price with the console) but I think this site is good to check out some wii games without having to fork out for it and then have it gathering dust!
the two games a month option for €15 suits me grand.

its really odd, they wont let you look at the gamesd until you sign up,
then they wont let you select more than one game for your queue.

after that your free trial is over and you have to sign up...

im tempted but wonder what the wait is like on the games.

Anyone got any Promotion Codes for GameSenders?

Was just about to sign up when I saw there is an option to insert one.

Might not bother, only 19 PSP games listed.

I was at the WCG a while back and got a GameSenders flyer with a months free rental, here's the code that is on it GSWCG, not sure if it's still valid but worth a try I guess if you do sign up can you let us know if these guys are any good.!!!!

The code didn't do much.. ah well!

I signed up last night. Will give it a go for a month. Added about 6 games to my queue and they sent out Bioshock (my first priority in the queue) to me this morning.

Will let ye know how i get on.

Is there a bigger selection of games once you registered than is shown in the Preview Games section?
Might go for the €14.99 version also.

Edit: Nevermind, can register without signing up and see them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,195 ✭✭✭✭Basq

There's not that many games to be honest and they include games that are on pre-order and aren't released yet but they appear in your queue with 'Long Wait' beside them.

But with 2 games / month, it's suits me great as my local Xtra-Vision is like a tenner for a week or something like that.

I was impressed with the status of the items in your queue anyways. The 'In Stock' / 'Short Wait' / 'Long Wait'.

    Hi

First post and all, but does anyone know if they are any good? Cos I have been looking around a couple of forums and on the internet, to try and find something like this?

I'd be interested too if they took Laser.
    Wirecard FTW!

What's Wirecard ? Can you use Laser with it ?

How did you avoid this massive thread on Bargain Alerts for so long? :D All the details are there. It's, in a nutshell, a virtual Mastercard which is linked to a virtual bank account of yours that you transfer money into from your local bank account (AIB / BOI etc.). Can't be used with Laser Card but as long as you have a bank account, you can register and use it.

GameSenders so far (just been registered since Thursday) have been grand. Have recieved Bioshock in perfect nick and with a nifty case.

Cheers, OP, I signed up for this as well. The selection is very small but I'm sure it'll improve in time. I got an email within an hour of signing up saying my first choice had been sent.

Sounds pretty good, is there anyone else out in the market?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,905 ✭✭✭bucks73

I don't know why they don't show you the full catalogue until you sign up,that doesn’t make any sense to me, but they have about 50 games for the Wii .
I just got a mail saying that metroid is on it’s way, pity I won’t get it until Monday,

Did anyone sign up for the free month through Pigsback.com, bronze package? It saysd 10 days free trail when you get to the page to give your credit cards deatails. I am not happy about having to give my credit card details for this.

    Cheers,

They ALL do this. What's the point in not asking you for your credit card details? What if you keep a game after the trial period? They've no way to charge you - think logically mate! ;)

if not just do a search for gamesenders, it should pop right up.

    Thanks for that.

I don't see a code or anything when I click on the link. Should there be a code or am i just being stupid?

afaik once you follow the link on the pigsback page it should automatically enter the code for you.

What kind of envelope do the discs get delivered in? Is it discreet or is there branding that might tempt some poor unfortunate to liberate the contents before it pops through the letterbox?

The reason I ask is that in the past six months or so I have experienced packages from the likes of Play and SendIt to name but two getting 'lost' in the mail. Have since had things delivered to the work address and have had no problems.

Its a small paper/cardboard envelope with gamesenders.ie printed all over it.
Its smaller than a DVD box though, basically its around the same size as normal envelope.

Wouldn't say I'm a long term user, but:
Ordered first game, had it next day.
Sent it back on a Friday, they received it on Monday, had new game on Wednesday. Can't complain at all.

Way to resurrect an old thread ... I'm just curious as most of the entries here are a few months old now what people's experience has been with GameSenders?

Thinking of looking into it, but am just wondering what peoples experiences have been like:
    - How long does it take for delivery after you get the e-mail to say that your game has shipped?
    - How often do you not get your #1 choice?
    - Do they have an option to buy the game for a discount after you have rented it?

    Thanks for any feedback :)

been with them since the start. great service for the first month or so but has rapidly fallen off. lucky to get 2/3 games a month. eg get a game on monday say , have a play post it back tuesday. wont show up as back with them until friday/ following monday. few more days before they send the next. just my experience. will be pulling the plug soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,195 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Was asked to setup and maintain a blog for them... but don't have the time or willpower to actually keep it up-to-date.

I had a good experience with them but unsubscribed about 2 months back simply due to lack of time to play their games.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 501 ✭✭✭BigglesMcGee

Much the same experience as jackbauer for me.

    I cancelled last week.

The games were taking longer and longer to arrive.

Irish post is certainly bad enough to make providing services like this and netflix type services very difficult to get value for money from.

Bad as Irish post is though there is still a massive amount of lag between posting a game back to gamesenders and getting another one.

    Hey guys,
I have joined game senders and so far they have been nothing but brill.
Games sent in no time, up to date e mails telling you they have sent your game and another when you post it back.
I really like que system and as I have read, I was puzzled. I have used a laser card to pay them no problem.
Had a promotional code but i think I put it in the bin!!!
    As I also read, €15 a month whereas it €10 a week in extravision!:D
Hope this provides some people with info!

    Happy gaming!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭mcgovern

I'm on the 15 euro a month package, so thats only 2 games a month anyway but...
If I send a game off on a Monday, I'll have a new one before the end of the week.
One game I sent back was never received by them, as a result I didn't receive any games for ~3 weeks (was playing CoD4 non-stop so wasn't too bothered).
I e-mailed them about it and they moved the date of my next bill back by 3 weeks, i.e. wasn't charged for those 3 weeks.
One of the guys in work really wanted 1 game, so removed everything else in his queue. It was down as a short wait, when they hadn't sent it in 2 weeks, he mailed them and also got his bill date moved.

All in all I'm very happy with them, fast postage (as fast as you can expect in Ireland anyway), very good customer service and a decent selection of games.
For €15 I get to finish 2 games a month, if I purchased them and traded them back in after it would still probably cost me €60.

Hi, i know this thread was a while ago but im hoping somebody could help me, im after signing up and adding games to my que and it says "long wait" how long is this exactly? one of them says "in stock" does that mean it will come straight away?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,509 ✭✭✭Donnelly117

€14.99 a month, that aint cheap anyway!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 79 ✭✭strettie

I actually disagree I have found it well worth the price . I am with Gamesenders
since April 2008. For 180 euros a year ( the cost of 3/4 top titles) in my first year I got to play and finish 8 games and 3 others I partly completed working out for me a lot cheaper than buying .

There are definitely games you will subsequently buy like GTAIV.

In my experience the in stock games are available immediately and the long wait games do vary between 1 and 2 months. But if you set up a long list of games there will always be a game in your list available to send to you.
