    he's 16/14/3

bit of history, he was abusing the fish at the table in the chatbox, which seriously grinds my gears (if anyone reading this ever does it, stop being a fcuking moron!), so i ripped into him and he got a bit pissed off at me. he's probably out to try and "outplay me".

    100 effective,

    i make it 4 utg with kspade.gifkdiamond.gif

villain is in the co, dealer folded.

    2 callers. other is a 60vpip fish.

    9heart.gif 5club.gif Adiamond.gif

    checked around.

    4spade.gif

I bet 8, folded to him, he makes it 24, i call planning to call any river.

    Aclub.gif

good card for me, he bets 50, i think, and then fold.

    bad right?

he 3bets any decent ace pf, and bets the flop in position with the a, checking the flop + the turn bet looks weak, so combined with my river check, I've induced a bluff that I'm meant to snap call?

only thing beats me if he's turned a set?

Yeah, really what made you fold. Is there something your not telling us?

I'd call looks like some sort of crappy underpair and he re-raises your turn bet thinking your delayed C-betting with some sort of vulnerable hand.Though he may have turned a set like you say, his betting makes sense.

I call anyway, the ace is a good card for you.

nah not really. i was just having a pretty horrible session last night, i may have been on semi-tilt and made a bad fold here.

My problem with calling on the end here is that when you call his turn - raise you are sending a message that you are hanging around. There is no reasonable draw that you can have at that point - other than a soooted 67 which is just too specific, and may be towards the very bottom of your UTG range. And if you think you are good on the turn - it is logical that you call on the river aswell.

that thought went through my head after the hand too. he insta bet the river btw if that's worth anything.

I would call. You induced a bluff against someone who is out to get you, get a perfect river card (bar a k!) so you cant really fold here

the other 2 players folded, i would have too on the turn.
sounds like you were steaming, i think you saved yourself some cash on the river.
players who berate fish are bonafide and lifelong losers. don't let this guy under your skin and you'll soon empty his account.

I would fold when he raises the turn. I've been thinking a bit lately about hand-reading from the point of view of bluffing tendencies, and one of the things you notice is that players are much more likely to bluff the flop than the turn. For this reason, I think it's unlikely that someone passes up a bluffing opportunity on the flop, only to do do a much higher-risk bluff-raise on the turn (and another one is that people won't often bluff a pre-flop raiser when an ace is on the board). So while I'm not too sure what he has, I don't think he's bluffing too often.

I think you can overestimate personal grudges. A player who plays 16/14 exercises a lot of self-control and I wouldn't expect the revenge factor to be too significant.
