I'm going to Barcelona on me holliers at the end of the month (woo-hoo for me I hear you say).

Anyway, my girlfriend is 24 so all the big car hire companies want to charge us an arm and a leg to put her as an additional driver (I'm 28).

Has anyone used any local companies out there that they might recommend?

    Have you tried www.carjet.co.uk?
I think they have a standard additional driver charge of something like €1.20 a day no matter what age

That website's brilliant, thanks a million!!!

I can get a Smart Car for only €230 (about 50p in your money). Those things look like great fun. Herself won't be too happy though - there'll barely be enough room for a vanity case.:D:D:D

Best deal I ever got recently for car hire in Spain was a with a company called http://www.email-car-hire.com/.

Prices are all inclusive - no excess for CDG. Only samll excess if you want peace of mind is for alloy wheels/tryres and windscreen damage. I had a peugeot 309 skywagon (brand new) for €289 for 12 days . You pay for a full tank of fuel on top (circa €65 euro) and return empty as possible . I had a diesel and didn't have to refuel at all. I guess they make a few euro on fuel but overall I would certainly recommend them. They use Solmar car hire ( local Spanish company I think!
