hi folks , not sure about this one, but i got a new fortec star satellite dish from maplins, 90cm. from the instructions you can either install it on the wall of the house or as a tripod on the ground bolted down..

    install video
    http://www.ftavideos.com/fortec/cd/videos/fortec_mmotor_and_antenna_assembly.html

not sure which is best,, any ideas, seems like a big job to get this monster up a ladder without falling off and killing myself..

if i install it on the patio and bolt it down, do you think it would work ok?
or is it better to install it up on the side of the house?

    any suggestions ?

Doesn't matter where it sits, as long as it has a clear view of the satellites in the sky.

I have actually seen Sky dishes mounted below ground level on basement flats.

    Reasons to ground mount
    No ladders/drilling walls
    Ease of access,
Ease of positiioning, adjustment adding extra etc
    Less prone to wind buffeting
Complaints from neighbours/management companies, busybodies etc

    Reasons to wall mount
    Interference by children, animals
Obstructions : ground distance to obstacle less than double the height
Complaints from missus about yoke on patio

Feel free to add to list, I am sure there are plenty more.
