A 65 Mustang has classic status,so road tax is less than €50 per year, limited milage insurance is around 3-400 euros.all parts are available in the USA and are very cheap,eg rear tail lamp lens $3.95 or less than €3,they come in 6 cylinder and v8 engine, expect average 18-20mpg for the v8(289 ci).

    18 to 20 !!!! :D No you won't get that, expect 12 on a ok day, maybe 18 on a motorway at about 60mph.

That said they are a good car, howver not very comfortable so I wouldn't recommend one for a daily driver. I would strongly recommend a garage to put it in and work on it. as has been said parts are cheap, but shipping adds cost, plus taxes. The 65 is a bit harder to work on than the 67+.

If you cant get 18 out of your Mustang there is something wrong with it!
    A friend with a '77 Coupe DeVille gets 16ish and thats 425ci.

To tell the truth, most of my driving is in rush hour, 40 mins to drive five mile sort of traffic.

I know mine eats a bit more fuel then average, myself and a friend topped up with fuel, went for a long drive on motorways and when we got back filled up again, I was about 15% higher fuel consumption and he has something like a 351, and I'm driving a 289!!!

We put my dreadful open road mileage down to my automatic gear boxes, unlike later gear boxes, mine will not "lock" when it gets up to speed, there is still hydraulic slip. Carb and everything else is fine, it not running rich or cold, I don't have a fuel leak, and I keep my foot above where the secondarys open up most of the time.
