camera recommendations - Canon A530?

    Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on a digital camera for family use. At the moment we use disposable ones and the quality is pretty ropey. I won an eBay auction for a refurbished Canon A530 which I went for based on some good reviews. I'm not sure whether to go through with the auction though. Anyone have any advice on a good camera to go for or feedback on the A530? Basically we have never had a digital camera before so we probably wouldn't need some advanced/professional features. Thanks

It's always safer to stay away from refurbished cameras.

Canon have many great little consumer cameras, as to Fujifilm and Olympus.

I'm not having a go at you, but why would you not go through with it if you've already won it? Unless you've some prior agreement with the seller in which you have the option to decline, the camera's legally yours now and you owe the money for it. I reckon get the camera, purely to save the hassle, try it out, and if it appears to be rubbish, put it back on eBay yourself...

There are very many compact digital cameras as Paulw said, Canon, Nikon, Fugi and Olympus all have good point and shoot cameras for very little money compared to what they used to be.
