http://www.dermotmcgrath.com/. "My instructor, Dermot McGrath, is the leading mixed martial arts and kickboxing instructor in Ireland". This site seems bit wierd to me. I have never heard of him and i have been following MMA in ireland last 6 months pretty much. So you guys know anything about this. Just stumbled on this site and wondered if you got any info?

Link down the bottom for bare knuckle fighting, so it's probably some underground pikey thing.

By the sounds of it it's a big fake, fakey mcfakerson site:D
Looking to rip people off no doubt.

he is the one of the founders of MMA in Ireland, back many years ago.

So someone said on her long time ago!

I do not know the guy, or anything. But this topic came up here a few times in the past.

What is the problem with him, making a DVD which is basically about punching, and using some American style internet marketing, to sell it to Americans, who think they are decendants of the High Kings of Ireland, want to hear about Leprecauns. and come to Ireland, and Kiss the Blarney Stone and all that?

He got up off his butt, found there was a demand on the internet for this information, (all the savvy internet marketers who make big money, research the demand, and if people will pay for the information on the net, before they even start to put a product together, which give about a 70% chance of the product selling and making some basic level of profit, or sell upwards to make $100,000s a year... this step in the process is easily done, find out what niches there is a demand for and then find a product such a E Book, DVD etc, to supply that demand), so he obviously put a product together, and released it.... and is would be 80% sure he is making nice money.

Ok, We do know that Matt Furey, that fitness coach, and net enterpeneur set him up in this. so Matt Furey would not be taking on any ideas that would bomb and not make money.

Sure, I know its a laughable title, but the guy took the initative, showed he has business balls, stepped up, took a risk investing money, and now got a money making web business. I cannot see why that should be slagged??? or how it is a rip off? He is not forcing you to buy the product, and I am sure has a money back guarantee..

This is entrepeneurship, business, having balls.

Remember this, its people who step up, put their money in on risk, work all the hours in the day to get a business going, who pay alot of peoples wages who post on here.

And the less people who step up, and risk setting up business, the less jobs there will be going around.

I think the guy should be admired! and he seems to have broken away from Matt Furey too, which is even better, gets more money for himself!

So can anyone explain, whats the problem with this?

If someone on here, decides to go professional and open a full time martial arts school, promote fights, or make a MA DVD and sell it. Should we go straight for the throat and call them a rip off???

I make money on the side teaching martial arts... am I a rip off?

I have partnership or money invested in 4 online businesses...is me doing that making me a rip off? even though the small small 1% who complain, get an immediate refund, wheather they ask for it or not, and also get to keep the product... is that me being a rip off?

Or is this another case of infamous Irish Begrudgery?

just because something makes money doesn't mean it should be admired or respected

but i guess we all have different ways of measuring things

No, its not the money I admire. I certainly was guilty of the myself in the past, in early business days. not good for the soul.

Its the "get up, go out, take the risk, and do it" thats what I admire about in anyone who attempts to make a go of it in business. and of course sticking it out in the hard times. taking the jump and doing it, when everyone else tells you your mad, or it will never work. proving the negtitve heads wrong, as they observe while hoping in their hearts you will fail, crash and burn, loose your money, so they can say "see I told you so!" but really deep down their scared you will make it work, cause it just might let them see their on the no where road, pint in hand from the bar stool that they still be sitting on in 20 years time.

Actually Geoff Thomspon, someone we all can relate to in a way, as he is a top MA person. writes about this in this Positive Thinking types books, and all the slagging he got over the years... first as an MA teacher, then with MA books and DVDS, and then as a author of works of fiction. despite being a skilled and trained MA expert and fighter, with a feared reputation, he speaks of the frustation and dispair he faced, and how he broke through. How the negtative loosers down the pub, tell him it cannot be done, almost defeated him. very good food for the mind this books.

Thats whats to be admired in entrepenerus.

Had some big ups and some serious downs in business myself over this past 7 years, and I tell you, the downs can be a million times more scary than stepping into ring, or racing down a bully.

I mean, if we follow this guys logic...

It's okay to sell drugs. Some one got up, took the gamble and it paid off.
    Or sell a cut-and-shut car.

Basically he is peddling an ineffective product. Sure, if he marketed this stuff as "it doesnt work, I dont know what Im doing but this false advertising will make you feel good" I'd say more power to him.

The point is, its dishonest. I do not commend a dishonest approach. What stops me doing the same thing as him is that its dishonest and hurtful, nothing to do with get-up and go, or anything else. Purely, its down to dishonesty.

    Peace

    o dishonesty.

I think he is saying what the product is myself.

If you read down about 75% of the way down the page, all the points he spells out that you will learn... most of them are pretty valid such as
    • Learn how to read your opponent's intent to strike almost before he knows it himself.
Exactly where to hit for the instant knockout.

    • How to drop thugs with devastating body blows.
Easy to use chokeholds that can render your opponent unconscious in seconds

    etc etc...

does anyone as a matter of intest think this is dishonest or a rip off????

    http://www.7most.com/

    Thoughts? Comments?

    he does offer...

This is a risk-free purchase. Your transaction is completely secure and covered by a 100%, no questions asked, 90-day money-back guarantee!

I think if you use the Paradigm of Thought, Fianna is using. then we could say alot of MAs are dishonest... there is alot of false claims in many MAs, RBSD, Krav Maga(for sure), Traditional MAs, etc etc. Larry Tatumn (not sure to laugh or puke... cool mustache lol!!!)

Just off topic... a very refreshing thing for me is this Tactical Krav Maga, I now do ( as well as Muay Thai of course!).... there is no false claims in this. it is tested full contact. and I asked my Head Instructor, what about those Sleeper Choke escapes most KM shows... he said "if someone who half knows what their doing gets a sleeper on you... your 90% fcked.." i said are you sure... he said, try the escape... I tapped out after turing purple! LOL!. they are anti big claim, that some KM is sickeningly known for, any doubt, it is tested full out. beofore this, I was going to give KM up for good, flush me Israeli Instructor Cert down the bog, am glad I turned to this version of it.

I fought one of his students at the very first MMA League - you should buy the DVD from Mark Leonard. :D

He was down at the most recent league in Limerick too. I had a brief chat with him between refereeing stints, he seems a nice chap.
