    ok, so long story short, piece of plastic managed to find its way into the dvd drive :( And it seems the only way to get it out is to open it.

    To anyone who has opened it, is it possible to access it to remove it?

    . . . and you really expect an answer to this ? Have you tried the home entertainment forum ? They talk about DVD players there ?!?

    Seriously though, you will really need to give us a bit more info:

    Is it a computer DVD Drive ?
    Is it a Mac ?
    If so, which one ?
    etc. etc .

    I'd assume the dust guard on the slot loading drives would prevent it from falling out if you tip the drive so Two things I'd try.

    1) tip the computer/drive and hope the plastic rests against the dust guard, then try and "scoop it out" with something

    2) Remove the drive from the computer then gently rotate the drive until the plastic drops out. See ifixit for how to dismantle the Mac.
    Well its a MacBook . I should of stated that! Makes it a little more complicated! I tried no. 1 and didnt work! Im gonna bring it to a comp shop and get him to open it I guess!

    Firstly, I presume you're a woman. (Sorry, but women, you're fighting an uphill battle here, bare with us)

    Secondy:
    MAC = Mac
    "I should of stated that" = "I should have stated that"
    "brakes" = breaks.

    Tell me, what exactly is the plastic stuck in the drive?
    But please, let us know how "ur bro" got on with your "MAC" "dawh!". Please.

    I'm a c*nt, for which I apologise. But it's still funny.

    Man!!

    Steve, we could do without the sexist, arrogant jibes thanks. I know you are trying to be funny here, but that isn't humourous, full stop.

    I appreciate the humour in the rest of your post, and equally I do not appreciate the OP saying things like "dawh" when people are simply trying to ascertain more information in order to help them, but comments like the above are really uncalled for, whether sarcastic or otherwise. And I'm about as far from a feminist as they come, so don't pull that one.

    My apologies for my sarcasm earlier but I'm sure as you were penning your reply you realised that you perhaps should have given a bit more info about the computer. After all there are many many Macs with DVD drives.

    We try to help people as much as possible here - we're nice people really - but it's annoying when we get asked things in this way and are expected to read minds.
    MAC = Mac
    "I should of stated that" = "I should have stated that"
    "brakes" = breaks.

    Are you eth0 in disguise by any chance ? :D

    I wasn't being funny, I was being completely serious.

    ok, Im a guy and your not funny. If you look at the time I posted, it was pretty late and I was after a long day so I dont really appreciate your stupid sexist remarks when your the fool here (Seeing as Im a guy)

    And Zenner im sorry! I was pretty stressed out about so I was stupidly snappy!

    I got the problem sorted out anywhos! My brother took it apart and removed the plastice (which was a plectrum for a guitar)

    pretty close one as it was lodged in the laser tracker so if I had used it, permanent damage might of been caused!

    thanks for the help guys!
    (Except Oriel :p Cant see where your prob is with me saying MAC? but thats your prob I guess!)

    "MAC" is generally used to refer to the unique identifier for a network adapter. We use this when you have a network problem. See more.

    Secondly, when referring to Apple's computers, you're abbreviating "Macintosh" -- hence why you don't use all caps, and should use "Mac" instead.

    That's the good way to explain it. I have a shorter fuse. :)
    Thanks, K.O.Kiki.

    So I was asking the woman to get naked with us. Can a man not get a little off topic once in a while? :)
