    Dublin v. Offaly

    Wednesday 19th July, Parnell Pk, Throw-in 7.30.

I would like to appeal to anyone with an interest in Dublin to get out and shout for the lads. Dublin hurling (particularly in the underage category) is on a big upward trend and the lads have a chance to bring a second Leinster hurling title back to the capital in the space of a few weeks.

Good to see a a relatively novel pairing in the final. Dublin had a narrow victory over Wexford in the semi final, and a lot of Wexford people are involved in the hurling revolution in Dublin so it would be nice to see them do well. Hopefully we can improve our underage structures amongst other things in Wexford, like Dublin are doing.

Think offaly will be favourites seeing as they overcame KK whereas we barely overcame a wexford team that has been trouned in the last couple of years at minor level. Also the loss of johnny mc caffrey and kev o reilly are massive.

Saying that, i am hopeful with home advantage, we can swing it with good home support. Semi final V Antrim awaits, so possible all ireland appearance for either team which would be a great auld boost for either county.

    Dublin 2-18 Offaly 3-9

    COME ON!!

U-21 and Minor double for the first time!! Didn't make it myself but was supposed to have been a cracker.

And as a side note, Liam O'Neill has now had to hand us 3, yes THREE Leinster Trophies this year. That, Mr. O'Neill is karma biting you in the a$$.

Great result! I'm a Kilkenny man myself but I wouldn't begrudge Dublin a long awaited breakthrough. Here's hoping they can go on and win both or at least one title, that might shut up all the ranting about the state of Lenister hurling and the comparrisons with so-called 'intense Munster Championship hurling'.

This is great stuff. Some brilliant work being done at underage level hurling in the county, well done to everyone involved. Now lets hope the footballers keep there dirty paws of the players so that we can build upon these victories. The only thing that worries me is that I will be broke every year now supporting both the footballers and hurlers.

Well, two out of three in Leinster ain't bad, is it? And only one point away from the Senior Final, and Naughton is staying on as Senior Manager. Good days all round.

Considering that Offaly made a very determined comeback aorund the half time period the lads did very well.

First of all let me congratulate Dublin on a fantastic victory a very welcome result indeed.

But just a word of caution success at underage level does not gaurantee that it will be translated to senior level just look at Limerick - 3 U-21 all irelands in a row and untill this year hadnt won a munster championship game in 6 yrs so it is only now that the real work begins and also Dublin have the problem of dual players and with the pool of players they have they cant afford to be loosing players of the calibre of Conal Keaney and Shane Ryan to the ''big ball'' but unfortunately this is inevitable as the big ball will always come first in Dublin.

I genuinely hope im wrong and that dublin translate this success to senior level sooner rather than later but i have my reservations.

Very true premierstone. So often you see players at underage level who look like the real deal but when the extra is needed for senior they cannot handle it. Quite often its the physical aspect but also some dont react well when playing players with the extra skill/experience. I really hope a good few of these lads from the minors and U21 break through to be quality senior players and would also like to say congratz to them. Was a very entertaining match with some brilliant scores on both sides. Hopefully a sign of things to come with more entertainment in the senior championship overall soon enough.

Fingers crossed because god knows hurling needs something and if the county with half the population of the country becomes competitive it can only be a good thing and im sure even the folks in KK would welcome some geniune competition because as things stand a leinster medal to a kilkenny man must mean about as much as a fiver does to JP McManus

Here's a couple of clips from the match on the St. Vincents website. I'm sure there are a few more links somewhere.

    Enjoy!
