    That shop is feckin huuuge!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭fdevine

I imagine if you wanted a 42" at that price, a dawn start would be advisable.

No indication of how many they are getting in, plus the fact that its widely advertised, means it will be a scrum come 11am if not way before.

Might stroll up at lunchtime to see what's left.

    Any smaller LCDs for sale?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,826 ✭✭✭podge018

Didn't see anything of the sort left a half hour ago. Seems the only electronics left are kettles and irons!

Absolute bedlam in there though, queues winding every which way in all the clothes departments, the homeware department seems to be the best value. Great sale, will have to get there before work tomorrow because I hadn't the time to queue on my lunchbreak.

Was in early for this, this morning.
Sprinted up the stairs and up the stairs and up the stairs :) but just missed the 42in plasma (€650), the laptop which i wanted (€350), but I got my xbox 360 premium for €200 :), and got a Canon digital camera and printer (€114)

So I didn't need a 360, have one already, or the canon camera (keeping the printer) but at least I can sell them to make some money to get a laptop.

btw, the manager guy I asked said they will be putting more out later today (there was actually people waiting at the stockroom door!!!) and tomorrow morning.

    Sale is for 4 days.

Oh and don't think its just the electronic thats worth it, I got a serious amount of homeware goods, very very good deal :)

My only advice on this is go early, whatever day you choose, up to Sunday.

I walked up at lunchtime, and rapidly left. Even if I had the rest of the day to queue, I wouldn't have bothered.

I guestimate that the queue time would have been 2 hours or more at any of the checkouts.

This strikes me as against the ethos of what I hoped Bargain Alerts here was
about. Will make me think twice about putting up bargains if people are
just going to purchase for resale with sole aim of profiteering. :(

What time were you there and what time would you suggest to get in
tomorrow to get a TV (mines just gone blank :o )?

I just answered this same question on another board.
I went to get a laptop and didn't.
Whats wrong with me buying a product for a "bargain" then selling it on to someone else, who is also getting a "bargain", I make something, they save a decent amount on RRP and we're all happy.

btw, I'm selling it for below RRP of the product.

I was in Dunnes for the opening at 11am.. It was bedlam in there.. I have never seen anything like it in my life.. I got myself an X-Box 360, a Canon digital camera and printer and a chair that you plug into your tv for playing games, watching movies etc all for 380 euro :D

I am going to go back in tomorrow morning and buy a few householdy things

anyway was too good to be true

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

It was advertised Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Don't think they would change it now.
Easier just to let all the stock go and then wait till Monday to restock at normal prices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 201 ✭✭Dufresne

I was in there today and queued for over two hours. The TVs were all gone but they kept bringing out DVD players at €18 and surround sound systems at €45 - they were still on shelves at 4pm. I did see the banner on their website has been changed to today only but the whole time in there today they kept announcing on televisions all over the shop that the prices were for four days. They have Gay Byrne coming in tomorrow and Keith Duffy on Saturday and they are giving away a car as part of the promotion so I'd be surprised if the prices went back to normal.
There were irate people waiting at the stock room doors for TVs and the manager said there would be 10 in the morning but I'd say you would want to be there about 6a.m. and sprint up to the 3rd floor as soon as doors open. I saw people with the games chair and some other electrical goods but saw no small TVs or Wii's. Be prepared to queue.

    I just left there now.

It was a total frenzy. Supposed to close at 10 but I didn't leave until 11 and there were still loads of people in there. Everything was all over the place.
They tried to start restocking but people where pulling things off the pallet, even toiletries. The guy in front of me had 24 jars of gel!!

The changing rooms had such a queue that I saw women trying things on in the shop, down to their bra and knickers, worth the price of admission in itself.

The electronics section was down to picture frames and lampshades on the shelves.

It looked like a few people where already waiting outside the doors for tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭Bubonic

Its defo still on, all the signs in the shop say so.

BTW make sure they take any security tags off clothes you buy, we got
a load of stuff and half the tags are still on. Will have to into a Dunnes to
    get rid of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

do you think they would have a xbox left at 6pm

    Not a chance.

I hope they have restocked but if it's not 50% off, there will be a riot.
Would be interested to know if they do restock the TV's.

Everything. Was in there last night at 7:30. Complete madness. Went to the homeware Dept. where the shelves were bare apart from some nasty looking pics and some cheap candles. The lines for the checkouts were HUGE. If you're planning on going in during your lunchbreak then have a re-think. You'll need a few hours just to navigate around the shop. Not for the faint hearted!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 482 ✭✭Sharp

Heard two of the managers walked out to the large glass doors this morning at 9.45. The crowd though they were going to open and swarmed toward the doors. They didn't open till 10. Not fun.

Tickets are allocated on a first come first served basis told the first 14 people received tickets 10 for TV's and 4 for Laptops.

They said their might be some still on the floor, they couldn't be found and either could the Xbox's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 392 ✭✭DéiseGirl

Urgh, I was in there at lunchtime yesterday and the actual shop floor wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but oh Lord the queues were savage!! I couldn't even figure out where any of them started. Getting onto the escalator that led back down to the ground floor took ages as well, there was a manager standing at the top holding back people so there weren't too many people on it at any one time. :D

According to the website (http://www.dunnesstores.ie/) - it's still on - up to and including Sunday!

    Fri 10-6pm
    Sat 11-6pm
    Sun 12-6pm

With the "While Stocks Last" provisio.

Same here! Iam thinking that if it is indeed a "4 day" sales they would spread the top best bargains over those fours days (e.g. 15 TVs released each day), so that they keep the attraction over those days i.e. the more the meilleur! CU all after the pub outside Dunnes doors then ;)
