LCD TV with or without digital tuner

In the market to buy an LCD tv.

Am wondering is it worth shopping around to get one with the build-in digital tuner - have seen a few of them on komplett etc.

I know that the RTE digital telly is still on trial but presumbably this will be a permanent fixture soon and the thoughts of having to plug yet another box into a tv daunts me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think the time scale for the role out of FTA digital TV in Ireland is gona be a long time.

I would let whether or not your TV has a digital tuner dictate which TV you buy.

Thanks I figured as much and by not looking for one with a built in gives me much more choice

On top of that all current TV's use digital DVB-T MPEG-2 tuners but the Irish trials will also be experimenting with MPEG-4 AVC which the existing MPEG-2 based DVB-T tuners will not be able to decode so should it ever be deployed you would need another set top box anyway.
