When I went, I paid €200, and that was October 05. I found it a fair price (I stayed off them) and got the offer of return visits if I failed, but I am surprised to hear anyone is STILL offering that price, I though it would have went up substantially.

My own hyno-monster of choice was in Dublin, so PM if you'd like the details.

Thats about 200-350e too much. I was smoking on average 20 fags(without drink!) a day. I decided to give them up. I have been off the 7 months now. No gimmicks no patches and no HYPNOTHERAPISTS! Who makes money from people that think they need help to give up smoking? ......... Hypnotherapists, Nicorette and Nicotinell. They also as it happens tell you how difficult it is to give up! Can you see a pattern here? ...... Yes they create their own market!! Ingenious really. The first day is pure torture but after that the grip it is broken!! People have to stop being sheep and stand on there own two feet!!!

I think thats a bit unfair, just because something works for you does not mean it will work for others. When people ask me about hynotherapy, I actually tell them thats its probably a 99% chance it WONT work, but I'm happy because I found the thing that works for me.
Personally, I dont have too much of an opinion about the great Alan Carr either, but if people use his advice to stop smoking, then there is simply no arguing with it. Had I been a sheep, I would have listened to everyone bleating on about how crappy and pointless hypnotherapy is, (EVERYONE I know told me it was a waste of money) and I would never have went at all.

I say if you're that desperate to stop, just keep trying, and eventually you'll find something that works for you. More power to you Flicky1 for doing it on willpower alone, but not everyone can, and certainly not everyone wants to.

i have just finished reading the allen carr book and i'm still smoking away. going to read it again at the weekend and if it doesn't work might try hypnotherapist

not everyone is able to do it on willpower alone.

    Whatever works for you.

Just remember that you are doing it for yourself and no-one else. (feel free to throw up at that post).

It may seem glib, but all you gotta do is stop smoking, and that's all there is to it - used to be on 20 a day, can't remember the last one I had now...

    Diffrent strokes, buddy.

I'm glad you found it so easy, but this forum wouldn't exist if it was that easy for everyone.

All the same, congratulations on giving them up. (In my mind that was serious, but it seems to come across as sarcastic. It's mant to be serious).

I did the same as this person but I wouldnt neccessarily reccomend it although I rarely even think about it now. I see the addiction in others all the time. The problem stems from the fact that hes not wrong but for someone whos been frustrated for years it could be seen as a red rag to a bull. The doctor said bronchitis and I internally said *ank** but I never smoked again following that day and night. For me clinical confirmation that I was slowly killing myself was way stronger than some TV type telling me the same thing.

Ok i plan to quit next week. Have tried patches before and did ok for a while but would give in after 3-4 weeks esp when having a drink. Might try a hypnotherapist to see if it works. i would have no bother paying €300 if i though it would work.

I am off a 20 a day habit 2 years at the end of this month. Was recommended a hypnotherapist in Tallaght, 350 euro, have rarely thought of smoking since. It's money well spent but may not work for everybody and you must really want to give up.

I know someone who paid 40 euro and hasn't smoked since. 2 years ago.

Fluck me, I would have liked to been on this forum a few years ago. I paid €400 to a fella in cork. went to him 5 times was told I would get my money back the next week. Needless to say I didnt so I hounded them for weeks and eventually got it.
I have heard of a hypno in longford with a good rep though

There's a guy in Nassau Street Dublin, that's supposed to be one of the best around, http://advancehypno.com/. I hear that in reality the success rate is about 25% but they all say 90% to compete with each other. I suppose a one in 4 chance isn't bad.

I went with a ''This WILL work attitude'' and havent smoked in 6 mths. But I wouldn't say its a magic wand, some willpower is still needed. You need to want to stop. Oh and I paid 180.00 to the guy in Longford. Giz a shout for details...
