    Hi Folks,

On my plans I've got a plaster moulding to obsure the guttering half way down the house. Does\did anyone else have this? Hod did it look when finished, what way did you do it? I was just going to get the chippie to box it off and and put metal around it and then plaster it, not sure how this will look. any suggestions welcome

I am not exactly sure what you mean by this, if you mean boxing the pipe off with WBP ply then putting expanded mesh over this and then plastering it, I would think again.
Why does the pipe have to be hidden?
What happens if the pipe blocks with leaves, kids toys or branches?
How do you remove it if this happens?
I would keep it out where you can get to it if you need to.

.....good point. There's a small block of 3 apartment next to my in-law's, and the down pipes were concealed in behind the brick piers. Excellent idea..........until 1 got blocked/leaked. As the downpipe was inside the cavity, it only had 1 wall to penetrate into the downstairs of the building, which it duly did..........flooded the place.

No, out in the open for stuff like that............

yes drainpipe i mean, it has to bend around a window underneath, doesn't have to be hidden, was architects idea to conceal rather than go around window...

hadn't thought about what happens if it got blocked
