This should probably be in the horror forum but meh!, im sure someone will move it if needs be.

I watched this film last night for the first time since i was about 14, it scared the hell out of me then.
Last night i watched it after another attempt to convert my wife to enjoying horror movies but to be honest i wasnt sure how it had dated.
    How pleasantly surprised i was!
In fact i probably enjoyed it more this time around due to the fact i was able to understand Mr. Barkers fantastic film-making and the undertones of religious and racial tension he uses to great effect.
Also rather than just being a scary guy in the mirror, which was my original impression of the film as a youngster, he uses the genuine fear that everyone has of losing their mind so well in this film.

ultimately enjoyable, and still has the power to scare you just a little bit.

Candyman, candyman, candyman,candyman........go on...what are you scared of?!

Just to give credit where credit is due, the film was written for the screen and directed by Bernard Rose.

The film is scary until Candyman appears.

I don't rate most modern horrors but I liked Candyman even if Liverpool did look a lot like Chicago!
