yeah I just thinkin to myself...'there aint any cheap places to stay in/around the airport'.
Why not just go to the Coachman's and drink lots and pass out in the middle of the airport roundabout, that's nice and close ;)

I expect to be able to find somewhere between town and the airport for around 50/60 euro considering it's mid-week and Travelodge in Galway offers rooms for 49.

    That's what i expect.

cheapest I could find for you was travelodge at 79 euro a night for 2

If you are driving and need parking, the hilton dublin airport whilst dear on the rooms, they do include secure underground parking in some of their rates so that might be worth a look.
They've a free shuttle to the airport.

Demand by the way is whats keeping the airport hotel prices up.
We're all flying somewhere lately and last week most of the hotels were 70 to 80% full I'm told.

No, Galway is just a tiny village of 341.

There are no shops and everyone marries their sister/brother.

And, oh yeah, Swords, where the said travelodge is located, is right beside the terminal building. Not.

    Good man yourself.

That's what i call a helpful and useful post. Thanks Trist.

I'm on my own and the price you mentioned is what i'd have to pay for just myself. But thanks anyway.

Not driving either. Will prob just have to bite the bullet and pay it since it'll be my first time in the only civilised part of Ireland and i'll have to get used to things always being better up there (MASSIVE airport and all). ;)

    Seriously though, appreciate it.

Get a reality check, peak season in close proximity to the airport and you want to pay 50-60 euro a night in a hotel. No chance.

Why don't you try a B&B beside the MASSIVE airport that Galway does not have and where they marry one another as you say?

    Good man yourself.

I think you need, to use a phrase, to manage your expectations.

Stay in a hostel in town and get the nitelink out (assuming you have an early flight).Stay in the hotel in Balbriggan and get the bus in the morning. Try www.sleepinginairports.com

    You see, another useful link.

If others here treated other boardsies with the same respect, then life for everyone would be much more fruitful.

I asked a simple question and in the tradition of a miniscule minority of boards users got unhelpful, cynical replies.

In the not so distant past I have got prices that are not too far off the price i mentioned earlier. Though this price range was not on offer from the previous hotel for next week, I thought maybe that another place would offer similar and so i enquired here.

To those who helped, thank you.

To those who have nothing better to do with their lives, good luck.

    K.

PS May this be the end of the nonsense that others wish to pursue.

If hearing things you don't like displeases you, the internet is probably not the place you should be hanging out on.

As per the charter, if you don't like a post, don't respond in thread, report it. But no, you decided to reply and gave it attitude too.

I'm going to lock this because a) you've got an answer and b) this board isn't the place for plaintive cries about how others behave online.
