    Folks,

We're at the stage where we're pricing blocklayers and we're getting some pretty competitive prices back.
What are the average prices per block that brickies are charging?

I had heard of people paying up to €2 a block..... It seems that €1.50 a block is standard enough, but i do know of a few friends who have been able to get the €1 a block rate again. I've even heard of 85c a block being mentioned also, but don't know about the quality of the work (not saying it's poor quality, just don't know)......

What type of quotes are you getting and how available for work (soon they can start etc.) are the lads?

1 of the lads came back with a price of €1 and he is excellent. There's 2 of them working together. He is finishing off a job now and said that he'd be ready to start our house whenever we'd need him after that.

If you know he's good and he's available, €1 is spot on - well done and good luck.....

That is very interesting. I have been thinking along these lines lately. I suspect the slow down in the building game will lead to much lower prices.

How much per block was it at the peak?

€0.85, and excellent, Co Galway. Blockie's were Portugese/French/Brazilian.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
