    Hi folks,just wondering what security i should have on my main gaming rig and the laptop?
    Currently im using AVG and spysweeper along with windows defender.
    Spysweeper is prompting me to purchase now as ive had a trial version but a friend told me he heard its not that great and can actually add spyware?
    He suggested that all i needed was AVG and windows defender along with my windows firewall.

    Is he correct?
    What do you guys suggest?

    This is wrong, Spysweeper is quite a decent program. Although you can get better free programs.

    If i was you i'd ditch Spysweeper and Windows Defender(really bad program).
    He suggested that all i needed was AVG and windows defender along with my windows firewall.
    No offense to your friend, but sounds like he doesnt know that much concerning PC Security. The Windows Firewall is truly horrible, and Windows Defender is utter cack.

    Personally I recommend the following :

    Firewall(only use one) : Comodo(the best by far), ZoneAlarm, OutPost

    Anti virus program(only use one) : AVG anti-virus, AntiVir, AOL Active Shield(this is the best imo), Avast!

    Anti spyware program : AVG anti-spyware(the best), SUPERAntiSpyware(also v.good), then there's the weaker programs like Ad-Aware and Spybot

    Real-time protection and other similar stuff : SpywareGuard(amazing), SpywareBlaster(amazing and a must have, stops spyware getting on your PC in the first place).

    If you want a cleaner program check out : ATF Cleaner(the best) or CCleaner.

    Hope that helps, there's a sticky around here somewhere that should help.

    Thanks a lot for that,ill look into getting them later on this evening.

    Couple of questions for you.
    Do i need realtime stiff?
    Also is xfire actually spyware?
