I very often use sites like www.froogle.co.uk and http://shopping.yahoo.co.uk to find the best prices on e.g. electronic equipment in the UK, and 9 times out of 10 you can get it cheaper in the UK than over here. However recently I’ve found that there are many ‘European’ sites that are even more competitively priced than the UK – e.g. www.thomann.de etc. I’m wondering are there any similar “Price Comparison” sites for the European websites, and are there any that feature any Irish sites at all?

Yes there are, for Germany for instance:
    http://www.geizkragen.de
    http://www.idealo.de/
    http://www.ciao.de/
    http://www.evendi.de/

If you type for the exact model designation Canon S200 in the box labelled "Suchen" you should get results. Otherwise use Babelfish or similar to get thwe relevant German word.
If the German shops don't have an English website, look out for "Versandkosten" - shipping costs. Not all will post to other European countries. Also, a lot of German shops don't do credit cards but giro transfer - "Überweisung". Nowadays no problem with BIC/IBAN. Just will take a bit longer as they won't ship before they have received the dosh.
