Overacting Can Invoke the Wrath of the Poker Gods

An early-position player raises, Roland De Wolfe reraises 1,800 more from middle position, and the first player thinks for a moment. He holds his cards out as if he is about to muck, and asks De Wolfe, "Will you show me your hand?" De Wolfe says he will. The other player says, "Show me one card," and De Wolfe says he will, but only after the other player folds. The first player apparently changes his mind, and says, "All in." De Wolfe calls, showing 10d 10s . His opponent shows Ah As , and it was all a bit Hollywood routine to entice action from De Wolfe. But the poker gods did not think kindly of his actions. The board came Qc 10h 9h Kh 9c , and De Wolfe cracks the aces with a full house, tens full of nines, busting the other player. Roland De Wolfe is up to 50,000 in chips, and he's smiling.

    from the blog on worldseriesofpoker.com

    Go de Wolfe!

Sounds like standard DeWolfe tournament strategy.

de wolfe is such a luckbox. unbelievable how he managed to win so much money from tournaments while being relatively crap at poker in general.

Why fold when your going to win every hand no matter what

What a noob going all in against De Wolfe preflop with aces, everyone knows you have to have him drawing dead before you dare to risk 10% of your stack against him. Entering an AA v TT race with De Wolfe is like challenging Michael Schumaker in his Ferrari to a race with you on a spacehopper.

I don't think Roland is that bad. He seems to play pretty bad on TV tables but I've watched him for hours on outer tables of 2 EPT events I thought he was very good.

Roland de Wolfe bets $2,200 pre-flop but the player on the button re-raises to $8,000. de Wolfe calls and the flop comes 9-5-6. de Wolfe checks but his opponent raises to $10,000. de Wolfe pushes all-in for $20,000 and his opponent calls and flips over K-K. de Wolfe is in trouble as he shows 8-8. The turn offers him no mercy as it comes J and the river is no good for him either as it falls 4. That's the end of de Wolfe's 2007 WSOP.

The dealer must of forgot a burn card or something, I call for an investigation.

I think it's fairly bad imo, very transparent, it should never of worked, especially against a pro.

I don't think DeWolfe is capable of finding fold with a pair of 10's for all the chips.
I wouldn't fold either if I got there 90% of the time I was a big dog. :p

    LOL
Yeah he's really dreadful alright, one of the first people I'd look to sit at a table with. Why do people make ridiculous comments like this?!

hehe sorry and ty! Just find it very annoying when people slate top class players. I can't think of anyone bar Ivey who doesn't have masses of criticism aimed at him. Even Antonius gets a lot. I know poker players are egomaniacs, and everyone thinks they're the best player in the world, but I never understand why some of the top players get so much criticism. Why does everyone suddenly think they're better tourney players than Hellmuth for example?!
De Wolfe's tourney results are incredible, there are very few records better than his over the last few years. I wonder if people honestly think he wins more than his share of coinflips, or manages to suck out more often than he should? They probably do!
Also one final thing when commenting on hands, most people on online forums/fora only read a single hand report. Therefore we have no idea of what the flow of the table is, history between players, reads, whether the other player is a total rock, maniac, idiot etc. I would trust De Wolfe and other top players to be able to assess the hand more accurately than someone who's reading a hand report second hand online! I've played De Wolfe a bit in the past back when betfair was on Crypto, and always thought he was very good.
Also quite a lot of these hands are mis-reported, I'm over here in Vegas and I've been surprised that a lot of hands I've seen have been reported wrongly when I looked online later on.

Anyway I have no idea why I commented on this, just bored, so rant over, I'm going to play :)

Well he's a huge fish in the full tilt games. Antonius is a brilliant poker player, I've never heard him being slated like de wolfe at all.

IIRC 1 or 2 boardsies played with him during his run in the Irish Open this year and thought he played quite well.

i think at this stage he has too many wsop/wpt/ept cashes to simply label him as a luckbox. he's certainly doing something right.

In fairness his wins and bank roll speak for themselves, I'd luv to be as crap as him so.
