Hinges - Who could fix?

I have an Acer 5021 laptop that's out of it's first year warranty so I'd have to pay for Acer to repair it. Paying isn't really the problem, the problem is they can't tell me how much it will cost until I send it to them in the UK. Then if I agree to them repairing it, it could take ages and the last time I sent my laptop to them for repairs, they wiped the HD, for no reason:eek: I don't want to be without my laptop for longer than it actually takes to carry out the repair and I've heard of people who have sent their laptops to acer and haven't got them back for 2 months. So this is definitely not an option!

The images give a good idea of what's wrong with it, just the hinges are funked from too much opening and closing since I bought it.

Does anyone know anywhere in Dublin or the surrounding areas who'd be able to sort this out for me? Even any boardsies as a fixer nixer? :) I don't care if acer parts aren't used, just as long as it's not a door hinge or something that'd make it awkward to use.

    Any feedback appreciated!

We sent a 22" monitor for repair in june and are still waiting for it. There is a company in the north that acer use called ERMedia that carry out minor repair work, but if its parts they need they send the unit to the uk. So be prepared to be left waiting.

Yeah:( Well I can't be without the computer for long so sending it anywhere really isn't an option days for postage alone would be too much. I'm holding it up with a piece of string tied around the whole thing at the moment. It works but I'd obviously prefer proper hinges then a piece of string for a laptop:D

You could request the parts needed and see if acer will send them out?. Or find an old one from ebay / buy and sell, say u find one with a damaged screen or whatever you might be lucky. :o

And the obvious choice of course.....

    Hi,

theres a company in cork, wich are main Acer dealers/contractors.
The name of the company is Total Import Solutions, Sarsfield Road, Wilton / Cork.
Get their number and ask for a techie there.
100% they can get the parts u need.

    regards
