Creatine When Your Trying To Lose weight???

    Should/can I take creatine when I'm trying to lose fat and build muscle???

    Will it slow down fat loss?

    My diet is good and happy with my training.

    All advice appreciated, thanks.

    Some people i know do it, i never do it. I think its a complete paradox. U need a surpus of calories to build muscle and less to loose fat. THats the way i see it anyway, what i normally do is lose fat and then build muscle. Might work differently for different people though.

    You absolutely can get leaner and more muscular at the same time. It's not easy tho.

    Also, when you come off a kcal deficit (if you're gonna take the dieting road..) then eat and train like a mad man for the 4 weeks afterwards and you should get a phenomnal anabolic kick back!

    I'd find it easier, if i was just starting off, to have 2 seperate goals i.e. lose fat then gain muscle. Than do anacat protocol (or whatever its called) and do it both at the same time!

    i may be wrong on this but i thought because there are no or very little calories in creatine that it would not effect fat gain or loss, that its primary job was to do with strength and volume of the muscle?

    How long should you use it for before taking a break from it? Would a month on and a then a month off be alright?

    So Hanley you think I'd be ok taking the creatine on a the calorie deficit I'm already on??? Would it make me train harder and speed up the process of weight loss?

    THe creatine doesn't make you train harder. If you want it badly enoguh you're the one who'll train harder. The creatine supports that.

    Fair enough, I understand what you mean. I'm mainly concerned, will it hinder my fat loss??? And am I wasting my time taking it on a calorie deficit?

    You ask too many questions. Stop over analysing everything and give it a try. See if it works for you. Trying to gain from other peoples exp is all well and good if you actually make the effort to implement what they've been saying to see if it holds true for you.

    Here man, I've made serious changes to my diet and training in the past two months. Not a day goes by when I'm not suffering from DOMS. I've lost a good bit of weight in the last couple months. I've got a lot stronger. I am listening to everyones advice and putting it into practice. Now I want to take it to the next level. But all I want to know is will creatine stop my weight loss, which is my main goal. People just have being advicing me different on this.

    I appreciate all the advice you have given me.

    Monty_123, what creatine essentially does is help your muscles replenish their energy faster. It can allow you to train a bit harder for that reason, but it won't make you train harder per se, effort will still be needed ;)

    It has no bearing on fat loss really BUT taking it can cause you to store extra water in your muscles, so it will probably affect scale readings when you start.

    Here, calm down. It wasn't an attack. If you're in this for the long haul then eventually you're gonna have to start to test things out yourself.

    Creatine might inhibit absolute WEIGHT loss, but it won't effect fat loss.

    Apologises man, I saw it as an attack. I'm in it for the long haul, started off trying to lose weight, now it's more of a hobby.

    I'm 14 stone at the moment and that doesn't bother. It's the spare tyre around my stomach that I'm trying to shift that bothers me.

    So as long as the fat loss keeps going and the muscle building keeps going, I'll be happy.:D However if creatine hinders my fat loss I don't want to take it, but if it improves them I'm all for it.
