    Hi folks,
Ive gotten back into the guitar scene and was wondering is it hard to learn keyboard/piano? I dont know the first thing about them, is it possible to teach yourself? Can you get 'tab' for keyboard?

    Cheers

I don't think the piano is difficult to play- I think you will be ok, especially if you already play the guitar as you are obviously musical. I have never heard of anyone playing the piano reading anything other than the stave, but that doesn't mean there aren't other ways! It's not difficult to learn and the good thing is that it can be used for almost every other instrument.
You can get all sorts of piano tutor books in McCullough Piggott's or Opus 2, but I think lessons would be the best to learn the proper techniques, etc.

The Piano is one of the simplest instruments to learn because you can see all the notes in front of you! There are teach yourself books that can be got in most music shops.

There is Piano tab, though I play the piano and I never use it, I read the stave.

I think lessons are the only way to go - teaching yourself will only leave your technique open to bad habits. Get yourself a good teacher, if possible with some experience in live playing (i.e. a band or similar).. and good luck!
