    Hi all,

Where do I go to learn about the internals of AEG's?
Ie stripping/upgrading just exactly how they work etc.

I look at exploding diagrams and kooking at the likes
of gears etc looks like mecano sets and daunting to
    modify or mess about with.

I want to be able to take care of my new beauties and
    maintain them if needed.

    ~B

    www.mechbox.com

A number of videos showing how to strip some AEG's and mechboxes :)

Learn chinese. Then you can read the manuals that come with most of them.

Also would have to agree with Fiach's suggestion. Great site that I used to learn about my AK Beta. I keep asking them to do a G3-SG1, and they are considering it!

mechbox.com is quite good, but nothing beats hands-on experience... if i remember from your thread you bought a cyma mp5 in mmmad a week or two ago? open it up and mess around with it, and leave your nice expensive King Arms FAL alone until something needs to be fixed :D

aye, seems scary at first, but once you do it once or twice your grand, just take your time the first time and when your opening the gearbox, try putting it inside a clear plastic bag so that if any parts fly out, they'll be caught instead of flying across the room.

I remember when i started stripping down my tippmann A5 a sppring came flying out along with some other stuff.... took me about 2 hours to get it all back together

main thing to watch out for is the main spring and spring guide, which will fly out the back of the gearbox, some gearboxes you can put a screwdriver in the back of the spring guide when your opening it to hold it in place....

watch out for the trigger and spring too, they can be a bit awkward to get back in

I got an e-book for upgrading/maintaining my M16 from airsoftpress.com. It tells you step by step how to dismantle the whole kit - they make them for different types of AEG as well.

While we are talking about this can anyone name a spring that might downgrade my JG M4 to around 1 joule and where I might get it?

You could always go live with Kdouglas for a week or two. They move in with Liamo333, then Fiach.

Ya pretty good with the mechanics of AEG's right?

personally i wouldn't bother paying for the airsoftpress ebooks or the dvd's, i've seen a couple of the ebooks, and while the information in them is quite good, it can be easily found online for free with a bit of searching, they've just compiled it all into one nice convenient pdf, alot of the info in the different ebooks is the same (generic info such as what's required for a high speed/high torque setup etc...) and then there's a few model/brand specific bits that change for each one

the dvd's on the other hand i haven't seen yet, but with mechbox.com and youtube, you'll probably find most of the content

CrazyRabbit: people are more than welcome to come live with me to learn about (gearbox) internals, once they are female, good-looking and dont mind sharing a bed, your more than welcome

Edit: ah feck it, female and a pulse will do :D

Just take your AEG apart and check out the internals. I'm sure there all easy to figure out which is which mine were easy enough to figure out. I didn't mess with any of them I was just checking them out in case I ever need to change something. Its all back together now works perfectly too. Just need silicone oil now and I'm sorted:p

PS: I know were to get it I'm just incredibly lazy:D
