Diagnostic tools needed

    Hey guys,

My 'puter has been giving me hassle since i got it before christmas. I used a diagnostic tool to see what the craic was (it was running mind numbingly slow) and it turned out that it was only using half its ram, so I sent it back.

They've given it back to me and there are still problems, so i was wondering if any knew some hardware diagnostic tools that i could use (i got the last one from my brother and hes forgotten which one it was). I was on download.com and got a few that i thought might work (registrysmart, astra32 and CEREMU) but they aren't giving me the depth that i want. The last one gave a 90 odd page word doc that i had a fun day of interpreting and realising that i knew nothing about computers (until i saw "ram capacity = 1024 ram speed = 512" or something like that, that was a bit of a eurika moment alright). The problems that i'm having are the wireless has the range of 1ft and it runs slow with video intense apps like joost ( when that didnt work it crossed the line and i got really angry) and a few other little ones that combine to make a big headache.

I would send it back but the company, gericom, are crap. the last time it took nearly two months and traveled from ireland to austria only to get sent back to ireland to get fixed

I want this so i can say to them exactly where i believe the problems are with a christmas list of things that need to be fixed...

    any help is extremely appreciated

    rollie

It might not be the fact that Joost is running slow because it's "video intense" - it might be because your net connection is crap. What about when you're playing videos on your PC or playing a DVD?

Have you tried a wired connection to your modem/router/whatever?

it works slow as well with computer games that should work great with my specs (even when i reduce graphics quality etc.)

Sounds like you baby is fúcked alright! I'm presumming you've ran AVG just in case there's anything hogging your resources. Another thing I use to keep my laptop in tip-top shape is MindSoft Utilities, it's brilliant for maintaining your computer and it's got an excellent registry cleaner built into it too as well as tons of stuff (Clearing RAM, Defrag, etc).

    Check it out here:

It's a demo, but finding a key shouldn't be that hard with our ol' friend Google :p
