    25 - 50 30 Min
    50 - 100
    75 - 150
    100 - 200

    20 Min Food Break

this is a GIANT annoyance for me... every club in dublin does it. Who was it many moons ago who decided that a tournament that will last up to 20 levels requires a break after 4 levels? consider...
    • majority of tournaments start at 9pm, and people will have eaten their dinner!
    • anyone who is out for the evening to play cards probably doesnt want to stop after 90mins for a break
    • after this needless break, usually anyone wanting to win a tournament will now not have a break for up to 5 hours, sometimes more!

this break is needless... and all clubs use it... I'VE NO IDEA WHY!

This query comes up every few months and I'll let you in on a secret here DIT.

The club doesn't make any money from the tournie so they encourage players to play house games during the break by having a 20 minute break (which once the players have stuffed whatever food is available in their mouths tends to happen).

That is why there is a 20 minute break.

    Simple business really.

20 minutes is a pain in the balls.

all the foods gone within 3 minutes 47 seconds, then people just sit around waiting.

make it 5 minutes. people can have a nibble, go for a smoke, then get back into it.

a 20 minute break does nothing but tempt the players out of the club to go for pints.

    I detest the food break.

Im vegitarian and none of the food is ever grass eater friendly.

he 20 minute break always seems to turn into a 40 minute break as well

Whatever about the food break, but who ever thought that fried chicken wings, suasages, samosas, deepfried mushrooms were good for playing cards with?

The amount of people that don't bother washing hands after and handling cards is incredible.

Grease.... the ruin of many a good deck.

I completely and utterly agree (with Jeff  ). A 20 min break after an hour and a half to two hours. Then however long it takes to the final table (sometimes three hours +) before a rushed five minutes before playing to a conclusion.

Much like tournaments starting late - it's just a stupid thing that is excused because "ah shur it always has been like that". Illogical stuff along these lines are really easy to change. And I must say that the Fitz is the worst in my experience when it comes to idiotic scheduling, delays, uneccesary breaks etc.

    Hi LLoyd,
I can only speak for whats done in my club. we have a break after the 150-300 blind level(the main reason being to take off the 25 denomination chips as they're no longer needed.,). Our next break in the tournament comes after the 800=1500 blind level and we use this break to take off the 100 value chips.(obviously in a tourney where an ante is used the break would be timed differently).I havent heard any of the players complaining but I'll keep my ears open.(our bteaks are normally 10-15 mins).
