Sky Movies - Rip off?

I just called Sky to look into cancelling some of our packages. I was thinking of getting rid of some of the movies. Supposedly you have to have all the movie channels to get Sky Premier (the one where they show all the new ones). I think they are really trapping customers here.

I have been thinking about the same thing for ages now. I have the full package since it was installed 3 years ago (that was the offer at the time). I just think it's too expensive now at €71 per month, I just don't watch enough TV to warrant that much money and there's a heap of rubbish there too. Is there much difference in the price if you dropped the movie package? I do think its petty of them not to allow you access to the Box Office movies, because you have to pay for them seperately anyway! Back to the DVDs I think!

depends how much of a movie fan/buff you are, I suppose.

what with the cost of renting/buying movies these days too, I'm not sure whether Sky would come out bad in the end.

It would be a rip off if you were forced to subscribe.

Mossy, whats annoying me is that I want to keep Sky Premier but the only way I can get is to subscribe to all the movie channels. Hardly fair?

My package is now going to be €68 per month. On one hand it's a bit over €2 per day which is not a lot on the face of it. On the other hand, it's over €800 per year which is a hell of a lot of Beer or the mortgage paid for a month!!

I think the whole thing is gone beyond what could be considered good value unless you do nothing but watch TV. I'm so busy working, trying to afford the Sky bill and keep up with their increases that I haven't got time to watch TV at all!:D

I dropped the movies (and down to 2 mixes) after they rebranded them a few months back (had the full package since about 1992). I can honestly say I havent missed them - plus I'm saving about €44 a month which is a lot of DVDs from Play :)

Sky want to make money from you, not accomodate you. This is the same as when Sky Cinema was only available when you subscribed to Premier and Moviemax.
