    One thing I don't get...

Why was everyone so happy when Darth Vader was saved at the end? The man's a genocidal mass murderer for God's sake! They took it very well when this evil dictator who destroyed an entire population full of people and ran an iron-fisted empire just came back and smiled at the end... "Hey guys, I've turned back to the good side now!" And it wasn't just the last year or two, he spent more time of his life being evil than good, and even when he was good, he was very annoying!

I mean if Saddam Hussein wasn't hanged but instead just grinned and said, "Well I've changed my mind, ye were right all along, being a brutal mass murdering dicator isn't a good way to run a country, so lesson learned, I'm good now", would everyone just cheer and celebrate?

it depends, its very easy to become drunk with power, in fact if you have power its much easyier to get drunk with power than if you drank a whole bottle of vodka

u suppose it is to do with the dark side corrupting anakin. Its not like he was born evil, or just became evil - the point is that the circumstances of his life, his trusting nature, and one very poor decision changed who he was. I think you have to view the 'force' as an active player in the proceedings - and kind of say it was the force that did it, not Anakin.

The point is that Vader is a demonstration of redemption of the self. It's not a case of standing up in front of the world and going "oh sorry, my bad!" and then being accepted into the fold again as though nothing happen.

Vader shows that now matter how low you fall there's always hope that you can recover the good inside you. Such achievement may serve you for nothing in the eyes of others but it is a notion (I feel at least) that one should believe in when it comes to the self.

Always think to end of ROTS, and the smile on Palpatines face when Vader hears about Panda, he's basically thinking you're mine now.
