  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

    Yeah, but taking out 5 enemies at once is worth it IMO.

    I've only seen Paul's (Nonex) home made claymore and it worked fairly well. Only about 20 foot range, but that's more than enough to take out several people.

    They'd make a mighty grenade launcher though, just a bit of duct tape here... a bit there and then wham! 10 times the bb showering:D

    No no no, what you do is strap 3 to your webbing then run into their base and hit the button:D

    *cough* Forum rules *cough*

    With the situation in the UK as it is thats a little too far.

    But then you'll be kicked from the server, and maybe banned too :D

    Off topic but i'm really pissed off at the moment at the amount of TKers in DODS.

    Funnily 'on topic' (of sorts), I'm really p1ssed off at this new BF2 fashion of enabling "claymore TK". Can't snipe in peace anymore, gotta check my 6 every other second :(

    BF2 any good, is it on steam do you know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,994 ✭✭✭ambro25

    The best there is (if you're into MilSim :D) and no, it's not on Steam.
    [BF2142 suckeh IMHO, and I've tried it as both demo and retail]

    'Tis well cheap by now, the collector edition (I think that's what it's called - has BF2, BF2 Special Forces and all booster packs) is worth it's weight in gold - at half the price the original cost me when it came out!

    Been playing it more-or-less since it came out, and still haven't got anything else installed on my main (gaming) PC - by choice ;)

    Claymores are one of the most annoying things about BF2. Claymore TK is great. Might stop you sniper bastards using them ;)

    Ehhhhhh - No.

    * 'nade spamming
    * vehicle 'me-first' tk-ing and
    * 'rocket-impervious' hummers and FMVs
    are 'the most annoying things about BF2'.

    Sniping in BF2 has become quite the art - especially when most snipers these days know all the spots on every map, whereby you're no safer from afar than from behind anymore. Probably why I snipe less-and-less, actually ;)

    At least grenade spamming actually involves throwing a grenade in the general direction of the enemy. Claymores are just lay and pray. Tops of ladders do my head in. No skill at all.

    When I first started playing BF2, I tried the whole sniper thing. Just didn't have the patience. Started using the G3 instead. Seem to get more long distance kills with that then I did with the sniper. :D

    So? Think of it as a claymore you throw, really...

    Well, that depends whether the player lays them for sure-fire kills in the usual thoroughfares, or uses them defensively (like me) around him to not be sneaked upon - and it's the sneaker's responsibility to look out for them. I wonder if you say that about C4 as well?
    o1s1n wrote:

    You do know you can actually spot them from the ladder before you enter their kill zone, don't you? Stop just before the parapet, and inch up until you can see just beyond the parapet - 'tis a fine line but doable without any problems.

    You seem to be suffering from the usual "rush-&-rush atttitude" of most BF2 players. It's usually (virtually) fatal, y'know :D

    See? 'Told you it was an art :D:p

    I mostly play Karkand with 30+ people. So I don't really have time to be stopping to check the tops of ladders :p

    I know what you mean about using them defensively. I do myself when I'm playing sniper. Still, feels like a cheap kill whenever one blows you up.

    Actually, should try and get all the BF2 players here together for a game. I'm sure there's more than just me and you ;) I go by the name o1s1n..highly original I know!

    I only play 64 maps and I quite agree there's not much no point sniping on smaller maps.

    Oddly enough, I use ambro25 :rolleyes: - more occasionally 5T3F. And yes, I know, my stats are the proverbial suckeh... but I have fun!

    Oh... and I've never experienced a 'cheap kill' - what's one of them?!? :D

    edit - as a Mod, I s'pose you should move this over to the BF2 Forum (which I also frequent regularly)... or tell me to shut up ;)

    I haven't been anywhere near the BF2 forum. Really should stick my nose in seeing as I've been playing it daily as of late.

    Anyway, yes ..airsoft! :)
    I have yet to stand on one of these buggers. Dreading the day.

    My first time at HRTA, Paul had given the defending team 3 or 4 little alarm thingys that went off if they were stepped on - they were setting them up with tripwires and using them as claymores.

    2nd time I went, about 3 weeks after that, I was sneaking through the bushes and I stepped on one, setting it off.
    Like a good little Airsofter, I cursed, took my kill and picked it up and went back to the safe zone.

    I was laughing, and I said to Paul "Jaysus, you never told us you gave the other team these !"

    Him and Mel started laughing and said he hadn't...the bloody thing had been lost, and sitting out there for 3 weeks.....and of course I stumble across it and set it off !

    We spent ages looking for that. It shows how hard it is to spot them. There were very effective.
