It has been suggested by Blackbelt that a few of us Dubliners meet up on Leinster Football Finals day and have a pint or two. (After all, we will have things to celebrate!) Personally, if I do make it, it would only be after the game. You see, contrary to popular belief, there are Dublin fans that like to get into Croke Park early, and sober. :p

We can work on details later. A meeting place a bit away from Croke Park might be a bit better as it would be quieter and easier to find people, especially as some of us have never met before. Somewhere central too, as we would be heading different directions afterwards.

Other county followers would be welcome, though I suppose terms and conditions would have to apply. :)

As the championship progresses, we could repeat the experiment.

I think Madigans on O Connell Street is the perfect venue. Its extremely central and the other nearby pubs from Croker onwards keep buffering the big crowds coming down.

I usually go for a pint or two max in Kavanaghs down the end of Malahide Road or in Meaghers opposite the Esso at the end of Richmond Road.

Squire1, unless the world ends between now and late September, the championship will progress. I am very optimistic of that. On the basis of what you are thinking, some of us will continue to go even if our own teams are out. I intend to be in Croke Park on both of the two main All-Ireland Final Sundays. Until Liam and Sam are handed over, the championship will progress for me, and everyone.

Blackbelt, Madigans was one of the places that had crossed my mind too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

I usually don't go to Madigans after matches as I tend to go more in the direction of Fairview after matches but I went there after the Dublin-Meath replay and its dead handy for others especially Nalced and the southside crew.

Anyway, like Flukey,I intend to go to Croker to some matches even if Dublin are not playing. The Championship will progress with Dublin more than likely in it until August.

I was briefly in there on that Sunday too with my brother. We visited a few other places after that. As for the southside crew, well you can count me in as one of those. :)

You never know Flukey,I might have passed by you on the way in or out as the case may be.Try and cast your mind back to three weeks ago and see if you can remember a young man in a Dublin jersey with 3 aul fellas watching the Real Madrid match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

We stayed for one, watching the grand prix, near the end of the bar and then left. It is possible we saw each other. I was the good lookin' fella, in the Dublin jersey. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,255 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

    Am I invited lads? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Yes but only if you meet the required dress code.As I said if you don't have a Dublin jersey,a navy blue shirt, black tie and slacks will suffice.:D

    Or alternatively your sivvies :)
Are you sorted for a ticket Lemlin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

Yes, the dress code for you will have to be strict. You must wear blue, but the correct blue colours. None of that Cavan or Laois blue. :)

Leinster Final Beers In Dublin Only!!!!!! :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

    Damn straight :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Flukey,it seems that our paths have nearly crossed on another occasion.I was watching your excellent footage of Dublin v Tyrone in February on Youtube and you were a few seats to my right on the upper Hogan.

I had an annoying Tyrone fan behind me shouting "up the reds" and "c'mon Tyrone".From the audio on your video, this might be the same man that was behind me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

Well Kenny, if anyone wants to watch the Leinster final anywhere in the country or beyond over a few beers, and there are other boardsies in the area that want to join them, then they can do it too. This is mainly for the people who will be at the game, though there is nothing to stop others coming along too, provided they abide by the dress code. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Apart from Kaimera, the Laois fanbase has disappeared off Boards.I remember they were coming out in force this time 2 years ago singing their campaign to the tune of "Is this the way to Amarillo".

    No wonder they lost.:D

Yes strict dress code policy for non-Dubs.Lemlin,I forgor to mention that I am not a chauvinist, there is nothing to stop you wearing a navy blue blouse and skirt.Just pretend you're not with us.:D :p

I would like to propose a new rule. If anyone does not adhere to the dress code, we bring them to a Templebar Tattoo parlour and get the Dubs crest put permenantly on their forehead. ;)

I have an issue with the dress code lads. My mates dont allow me to wear a jersey to the matches anymore as when I try we tend to get bet. I think the last match I wore a Jersey to Westmeath beat us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

    Then wear the Dublin hat.:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

Waylander, man you need help. Those mates are ruining you. Bringing you to stag parties when there is a Dublin match on, and then telling you not to wear your county's jersey when you do actually get a chance to go to support your team! With mates like that, who needs enemies?

To be fair to them Flukey I think they have a point. We do seem to lose more often when I wear the jersey. I do cheat and wear a Dublin t-shirt though.

Hmmm I might turn up in a Carlow jersey to support them in the minor :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

I think a Carlow jersey just might be acceptable. What do you think Blackbelt?

Might be a while before he gets back to you, he got dragged into The Muppet Show and paid the price.

Any venue settled on yet I'll pop in for a quick one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

As stated above, probably Madigans on O'Connell Street.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,715 ✭✭✭Nalced_irl

Is this gonna be after the game or before btw? Or both? I should be able to make it in but ill be with my bro and sister so cant guarentee it. But most likely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

After the game as some of us want to get in early and sober to see the minor match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

Anyone who wants to come, PM me may as soon as you can, as we are already making arrangements.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

    Anyone else coming?

I will turn up if Laois win :p

Only joking don't want to start more Dublin arguments. I would go but I am moving that day so I can't make it.

We'll all be moving. We'll be jumping up and down and also dancing with delight during and well after the match. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Flukey, you could get up on your seat in the Hogan and do the hippy-hippy shay.:D

Not to Glasgow though, so no more Croke Park for me this year :( Unless Wexford make the AI semi finals  , I have to go to Amsterdam the weekend of the quarter finals :(

Anyway I hope you all have a good time dancing in the streets, especially the Laois and Carlow fans :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

The Laois fans can do a dance around their houses,in croke park or the pub and get excited if they are winning in the 68th minute like in 05 but we have the strength to come back and win if this situation is to occur.:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

Hang on a second; I believe my name was dropped a number of posts back :-/

How about yee come down to LIM and watch the game on telly? :p

Btw, go early to CP to see the Laois minors win again ;)
Then stay to watch the Seniors win :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

Kaimera, I'll be in early and hope to see Carlow and Dublin win. You won't be seeing me in Limerick, unless you spot me on the TV. :)

Cruiserweight, why wait a few weeks to go to Amsterdam? If it's drugs you're after, you'll get them on Sunday on Hill 16. :) As to matches, there'll be plenty of places in Glasgow where you'll be able to catch the matches. It's a lively city and I'll be over again later this year for a weekend. After the championship of course. :)

Have to say it won't be a good day for Laois if their minors do what the seniors can't and thats actually win something.:D

CW,thats a tough break man.You better bring the wolly jumpers, willy warmers and whatever else you got because Scotland is not nearly as warm as the tropical sunny south east of Ireland.:D

Good to hear from you Kaimera, you are always dangerously quiet.Must be the time of year, the Leinster Final then you'll go quiet again for some unknown reason.:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

Quiet for a reason; I just let the chat flow and pop in when needed really.

Last year of college kept me a bit quiet ya know and work atm means I'm only seeing highlights of most Sunday games :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

Ah the aul work-leisure balance is clearly not on your side Kaimera.Although next year will be a quiet one for me so it will be quiet from my front from October on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

For GAA fans, winter Sunday afternoons can be very boring. :)

    Tell me about it.

I miss the carefree days of just sitting around; the dad going "Coming to watch x play y in town?" and me actually being able to go.

    Ah the old days.

Fair play to yis lads for organising this - I hope a few of you turn up! I'm afraid I have to decline. The after-match drinks with the usual suspects is the highlight of my social calendar so I can't give that up! But hope it goes well and Up the Dubs!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

So what is it you suspect them of? :)

Thanks for responding. We'll raise a glass to you. Pity you won't be there to fill it. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

Last call for anyone that wants to join us. After the match, in Madigans on O'Connell Street.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,715 ✭✭✭Nalced_irl

Well, heading in in about 15 mins. Enjoy the game all and hopefully with the right result we can enjoy a few afterwards. Blackbelt, ill give u a buzz if im gonna be late into it, all depends on if i have a few drinks with the lads first but should be there at some stage. Dublin by 4 points, get in! ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,715 ✭✭✭Nalced_irl

Btw Flukey, you keepin an eye on the WSOP? (off topic i know) Good to see a few known heads still in it. Pullin for Scotty Nguyen to do it again. "You call? Its all gonna be over baby" - What a legend ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

A good evening was had by all, with us all in celebratory mood. :D You missed out on the fun this time, but there will be other opportunities. We need a bit of balance, so non-Dubs are welcome.:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭blackbelt

It was a good evening and Madigans was the perfect venue.Flukey and Nalced are sound and my girlfriend who doesn't know too much about GAA had much more fun than she thought she would.

The banter was great and it wasn't all about the match or GAA.This was long overdue in my opinion but now we have set the bar for other board members to meet all around the country.
