Sky+ failing to output sound to DVD recorder?

Hi all.. strange one, has anyone heard of this.....

My Sky+ box appears to be failing to output sound on the 2nd scart, which is connected to my DVD recorder. Every time I choose the DVD recorder, I get silence on the input.

I checked to see if it was the Sky+ box, or the DVD recorder, or even the TV... I swapped it with my old Sky digibox, and it works, no issues.

New bosca needed? Or prohibitively expensive to repair? I recently got the letter offering a new Sky+ box for €150.... might be worth getting?

EDIT: Its the older type version, Pace 4.015a

Try different brand SCART, Try VCR SCART only to TV set with cable that was to DVD recorder?
Check Digibox menus in case they added separate sound level setting for VCR SCART.

I did swap around scart leads, and inserted a new one, yet to no avail. I swapped the VCR Scart to TV as you suggested, I AM getting sound to the TV that way...... that be the confusing part. I don't see anything that has changed in the Digibox menus that worked before now.

The whole daisy-chained setup works for the normal Digibox, but not for the DVD recorder.

    Hmm, that's indeed odd.

I must admit, I've never encountered this problem myself before.

Yet, you do get sound on the TV, when Scarted from Sky+ VCR output to the TV. This would mean that audio is being outputted. Hmm, is there any settings within the DVD Recorder that might affect it?

    *shrug*

    Just to complete the picture....

Its a Philips DVD recorder.... and the TV is a Panasonic Viera LCD. There doesn't appear to be an audio setting to change on the DVD.

    I'm baffled!

That would be my guess. Check system menu on DVDR. Does the DVDR have s video with twin phono jacks for audio by any chance?

Sounds like a DVD recorder problem not Sky Digibox

does the dvd get sound when the tv output (Scart 1) is connected to the dvd player (are there any combinations left that havent been suggested??)

I don't suppose it happens to have it's own volume control?

Have you got a model number (or a link to a user manual)?

Problem solved, or workaround at least!

I got the DVD recorder to record the sound from the Sky box when I choose the TV/Loop option when switching between the DVD recorders other inputs. I was used to using EXT1, but it will relay and record the sound if the TV/Loop option is chosen prior to recording.

Odd, but it works! Thanks for the suggestions :)
