Is a PS1/N64 emulator available for the psp yet?

It must be 8 months since I touched my psp, I haven't kept up on the homebrew scene at all. I distinctly remember there was some very early development of an n64 emulator back then. I am just wondering did someone actually get around to making a decent n64 and ps1 emulator for the psp since. Are there any other psp developments I have missed out on?

    Thanks

There's a fully functioning Sony designed ps1 emulator that's been hacked to play almost any ps1 game. N64 emulator is a bit behind in development but is making steady progress, i think a few games are playable on it

I believe Daedalus is the N64 emulator for the PSP with the most development put into it. linkage

PS1 games don't require emulation. Running Gran Turismo (1) on my own PSP.

Check out the boards at www.psp-hacks.com for more info.

    Cheers guys.

I'd love to give FFVII another play to see if it's as good as I remember it to be. But tbh I'd be more impressed with being able to play N64 games on it.

N64 emulation is ****. Mario 64 runs but not very well. Most are unplayable. Ps1 emulation on the other hand is fantastic.

PSX emulation! class. Do you need a specific firmware version to do this? I would seriuosly consider getting a used PSP to play my old PSX games on( i held ontoFF 7, 8 and 9 and MGS)

I think it was FW V3.03 that introduced PSX Emulation. Again, www.psp-hacks.com will have all the info you need.

How hard is it to upgrade firmware?
I want to buy a used psp but i'm too afraid that I might brick it.

If you buy a used PSP with relatively old Sony firmware on it, you'll most likely be unable to run a latest game on it without performing an official FW update.

Whether you're hacking the PSP to run custom FW or upgrading with official FW, there is a risk of bricking. The risk is minimal, and if you follow all instructions, you have a very high chance of success.

People have bricked while updating official FW, and custom FW, and have had their units successfully replaced by Sony. Often, these cases are the user not following instructions correctly.

I've hacked 2 PSPs (FW 2.6 & 2.8 originally) down to 1.5 and installed FW 3.40 OE-A (open edition, A revision) on both, without any issues. You need to be sure which motherboard and FW are on your PSP, then download the correct downgrader and follow the instructions. This link covers downgrading all FWs up to 3.03 (it's also possible to downgrade up to 3.50 now).
