What is it about the pill that kills your libido? I'm not on it, but I hear its a side effect and I am considering my options at the moment.

Different pills affect different people in different ways. Some women find a boost in confidence, from the lower risk of pregnancy, improves their sex life.

It affects everyone in different ways. I've never felt a drop in libido as a result of being on the pill.

A drop in libido is often more a mental state of mind anyway

Well at the moment I'm weighing the pros and cons of it as I'm sick of condoms but since I've a history of depression I'm afraid that my libido will go and the hormonal changes would affect my fragile mind!

Hi Nightwish..THB, I'd be more worried about the effect on your mind than on your libido. I've never really heard of the pill affecting you libido(though it does of course depend on the pill you're on) but i do know of many cases(me included) where the pill has brought of dreadful mood swings, low self-esteem, and bouts of depression. Having tried a number of different makes, I found that 'Yasmin' was the one that affected my mood the least so have a chat to your doc to see which one she recommends .
Not on it anymore though.Every man for themselves but i personally got sick of pumping my body full of chemicals. If your not a fan of condoms, you might wanna look into the numerous other alternatives out there which dont involve the taking of any medication. Good Luck LL ;)

Look at a lower dose delivery system ie the patch or the Nuvaring,
    or non horrormoanal options.

Thanks for the information. I'll have a chat with my doctor, if I can ever get an appointment with her.
