    Hi all,

Has anybody got experience of building an exempted extension (under 40 sq metres etc etc) or other exempted works in an area designated as an area of "high amenity"?

The environ.ie website states that exempted development is not valid in areaS of "special amenity".

Is there a difference between "special amenity" and "high amenity" ?

Ps::) before someone tells me to ring my local coucil I will do this tomorrow but since today is Sunday i was just seeing if anyone could shed some light on this for me today...

    Thanks in advance

    F

Im open to correction on this but as I understand it they are both the same - an area of high amenity is a natural beautiful scenic area and such an area would be given a designation of a special amenity area by a local authority which is then included or listed in their county or local development plan as required under the 2000 Planning & Development regs.

Just to finish the thread (for anybody that cares :) ): I called my council today (Kilkenny Co Co) and was told exempted development (small extensions etc)
are still ok in areas of high amenity so thats all folks
