Irish Cardroom rake... Are we being screwed?

OK, I hope this isn't a lockable thread mods and I'm not here to air my problems with any particular club. I simply want to see the rakes charged in casinos across the country. I know there are a good few dealers and ex dealers posting on Boards (I can think of 3 ex Macau dealers) I was hoping they would give the actual figures.

So my question is: What rake does your regular club take? Also, is there any club in the country charging an hourly rate? They do this in London for example and I prefer it as it's much more transparent.

Yea, agree the English system is more transparent, which is nice.

In a 1/2 plhe and 1/1 plo game, min buy in €50, the rake is €7.50 pp ph.
In the 2/5 plo, min buy in €100, the rake is €11.00 pp ph.

    Seems fine to me...

I've no problem with the question being asked. I think the Fitz is certainly quite open about the rake being charged. I've been playing in the SE a little lately and I dont think they would shy away from the question either.
Our rake here is very good compared to lots of other countries, though I agree the players should always be informed of what the rake is.

    DeV.

Out here its 10% rake per pot with a $4 max. i think thats pretty transparant though, and managable. with 25 hands per hour its c$90 per hour.

I've not played any nolimit out here in Australia yet. But I played some 5/10 limit recently. They take AUS$1 per player per hand! Bit steep me thinks.

there is a place in wexford where the rake was 10% NO CAP, saw 400 raked from a pot one night.
needless to say the poker players left said casino till it was resolved

In Linz it's something like 3€ in 4/8 in a pot over 24€ and in 6/12+ it's 4€ in a pot over 36 (I think). NL (1/2) is 1€ over 15, 3 in a pot up to 160, 5€ up to 700 and 7€ over that (or something like that). 1€ is always taken per hand for the jackpot too if there's a flop (and there's a flop 99.9% of the time).

the rake is good in most major Irish cardrooms compared to the rest of Europe. It is worse than the US. But there is more tipping in the US and less in Europe so to some extent it evens out.

    Hi,

In the Emporium the rake is as follows,

Blinds 1-2 the rake is €4 per player per half hour

Blinds 2-5 the rake is €6 per player per half hour

The rake is taken from the table on the “Hour” and “Half Hour” to ensure that the dealers aren’t over raking the pots.

If the rake is ahead we advise the dealers to slow down.

When the cash league is in progress the dealers are advised to take €1 out of each pot over €25.

I hope this answers your question,

    John.

In the NL games in Australia that i played the rake is 5%. Max $25 per hand which is very steep

I worked on a cruise ship and we were taking 10% up to max $10...but get this...in 25c increments! Bloodsuckers they are. That was in the 2/4 limit game.
In vegas it was 10% up to $4(Binions) or $5 elsewhere.
I played in England last week, and there was no dealer. One of the other (broke) 'wannabee-player's dealt and we each gave him £3 an hour, so he was on £20-30 an hour, and averagely crap for that. It was a £5-£5 dealers choice 4/5/6 PLO/Irish/PLH, but there was NO RAKE. No table charge, nothing.
It was like a home game, but in the casino, with complete muppetts.
    Brilliant.
And if you are ever broke, I hear that it is similar in most casinos in England. You can just jump in and deal 'cash in hand' in the casinos for that sort of money. You might get 4 hours a night...not bad tax free....as a sideline.

I've never really understood how the rake is taken - does this mean that as long as I don't play in the hands on the hour and half hour, I don't pay any rake?

or maybe it's something to do with blinds...

I imagine they just take from each player, irregardless of whether they are in the hand or not...

The thing about a raked game is its far more advantageous to play tight as the only time you are raked is when you are in a pot.
All the LAGS that play 8 out of 10 hands are basically paying the rake for the table.
Nothing to do with blinds at all.

I'm only doing this as your a mod of Spell Czechs, but you do know that "irregardless" and "regardless" are the same thing, yeah?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irregardless

    It's "non-standard" English, you cretin!

Yeah I know. It's funny that you mention it because when I wrote the post, it originally contained 'regardless'. I then edited it to be 'irregardless' for emphasis(or was it no reason? Irregardless...), nodded to myself, and went about my business.

How anyone could take the regardless / irregardless trifle as the most incorrect thing about that post is impressive :) In our casinos rake is obviously only taken from pots throughout the hour, not players' stacks, and certainly not only in the hands on the hour / half hour mark :) ...although that would be cool, like an anti-jackpot - the winner of a hand on the hour mark has to pay the whole table's rake!

Mmmm, lovely top class sniping .... regardless / irregardless. I bought a dictionary this week, and took it out to look that up. ;)
