Softball pickup games at Charlesland Sports Centre

For the next five Mondays, there will be a softball pickup game at Charlesland Sports Centre, at 7 pm, on the baseball field inside the running track. Adults, mixed - ladies especially needed, so please forward this to anyone interested.

Softball is essentially the amateur, less competitive version of Baseball. Also related to rounders. Despite the name, the ball is not soft! It is a solid, leather covered ball about four inches in diameter.

No experience is needed - just the willingness to throw a ball, catch a ball, run short distances, and whack a ball with a baseball bat as hard as you can! Good fun.

2 euro per game for field usage costs. Sponsored by the Greystones Mariners Baseball Club.

Our first session featured many leaping catches and booming blasts of the bat, as the rain stayed away and the sun shone down unexpectedly on Charlesland Sports Centre. As we finished, a rainbow even appeared over the adjoining field.

Could still use a few more to make up two sides – so if you’ve thought about it, come on down this Monday evening!

Great turnout the last three weeks, so this has been extended by popular demand at least through August, and probably longer.

Mondays, 7pm, although on this coming bank holiday Monday we will start earlier at 4pm.

    New players welcome anytime.
