“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I always wonder what the outcry would be if they tried to have a "Festival Of Speed" here in Ireland ?

The "Down whit that sort of thing" brigade would go demented.

nice pics - I'm always keen to go to events - but always overlook UK ones as both pricey and hard work compared to European ones - am I wrong ?

well because the entire event is held on private property - i.e., his driveway (v.long, I grant you.............), it's a non-issue. That and the 1000's of jobs he creates...........€€€ rules in the end, thank God.

It's not expensive compared to a GP, that's for sure. Full day Saturday (opens at 7a.m. btw.......) cost GBP£86.00 for two, the kids were free. The last full 3-day ticket cost me.........£140?? And it's much, much more than a show. It's a show, and a race, and a museum, and a social event, and a new-car show too (all the majors show there........), it's got 2/3/4 & 6 wheel attractions (Tyrell, anyone.......? :D ) and a concert and....and....and the list goes on.

It's not crowded either - a fixed no of tickets sold each year, and that's it.

Last time, we Ryanair' over and stayed in a caravan park (eeek), this time we made a holiday out of it and rented a house 20mins away. It's as dear or cheap as you make it.........

My personal fav this year was seeing the Blitzen Benz on the go. I've read all about it, and seen it in the MB museum a couple of times, and always wondered what it was like on the move..............now I know !! :D
