Scoped Rifle/Sniper recommendations?

Lo there all, new to all this racket so go easy ;)

I'm looking for a nice accurate rifle, weight isn't an issue, for a bit of long range target practice. I'm just wondering

    What makes/models are good?
    Where should I purchase?
What kind of distance would I get before it would glance off a coke can (rather than go throuhg it)?
What kind of money should I be spending?

I'm not interested in skirmishing (for the time being) and my budget would be at the lower end of the scale. I've also posted a wanted in the adverts forum for a scoped rifle or similar on the off chance there'd be someone selling one.

I did (and realise that ehobby seems to be the way to go) but it all seems to be AEG / Skirmish centred - I'd like the advice or experiences of someone who just uses a scoped airsoft gun for ranged target practice.

What makes/models are good? Tokyo Marui are generally recognised as the most reliable AEG's.
Where should I purchase? The stickies contain a list of retailers. Find what you want to buy, and see which one is the cheapest.
What kind of distance would I get before it would glance off a coke can (rather than go throuhg it)? A legal airsoft AEG is not likely to go fully through a coke can. You could probably hit one from 100 feet with a few attempts, though it will only dent the can.
What kind of money should I be spending? From €60-€6000. Clones are the cheapest but quality is a bit hit n' miss. And don't forget shipping/packaging/VAT charges.

If you want the Airsoft gun to be as accurate as possible, then you will need to modify it with a tightbore barrel. Cheap enough to buy, but installing them takes a bit of technical skill.

P.S. Using are airsoft AEG for target practice only, is like owning a set of scuba gear and only using in your local swimming pool.

Would a spring or gas based rifle provide more accuracy and power compared to an electric one? I'd even be happy if I had a 'bolt action' single-shot springer if it was accurate enough, but would something like the VSR-10 be the cheapest I'd get without sacrificing accuracy and build quality? I mean, I wouldn't mind getting a couple thosand pellets, a scope and maybe even a bipod with a sniper for as close to the 150 euro mark as I could get - or am I just not being realistic?

Ah well, different strokes for different folks and all that :) I'm not saying I wouldn't get into the whole skirmish scene, it's just that my priority is to train my eye in at the moment for proper target shooting in college next year.

Gas powered sniper rifles all have the capability to fire well over 1 joule. So they are not an option for us.

You'll have to stick with a single shot bolt action springer powered one. Anyway, as far as airsoft goes, they're the most reliable :)

Dirt cheap to run too since you don't have a battery to worry about :)

Have a HFC VSR11 on the way, its suppose to be a decent bolt action sniper.

I have a vsr-10 g-spec. It is amazing! Costs around 200E another 50 for a scope and mounts.

No its the spring model, the gas one is way over the power limit.

as Gandalf pointed out the HFC VSR/USR 11 would be a good cheapish choice, or failing that any VSR 10 varient is always a good option
