    Guy,
My old 32inch panasonic has served me well and it may be time to put out to pasture.
I saw this Sony been advertised yesterday with a dvd recorder for around 1350.
May pop in to Currys over the weekend to have a look at it.
    Anybody any opinions on it?
I think the TV will be around 1200-1250 without recorder(which I'm not pushed about).

Or would anyone recommend another machine over this (preferably 40-42 inch) for 1200-1400 Euro.
I'm currently using SKY but will move to SKY HD for the few programmes that are broadcast in HD. Will be using it against an Xbox also.

Right or wrong I'd prefer an LCD to plasma, issues with burning, brightness fading over time have always put me off them.

I've the previous model of that Sony 40" and have been fairly pleased with it, very solid performer. Only thing that might annoy you if using xbox 360 is that there's only the one component in connection, adding other component systems won't be possible without a switcher.

You could always wait for the next of that series, XXS3000 which should be released in a few weeks. As with all technology products you'll be best set with the latest and most advanced.

I never claimed to be an expert and I understand that LCD has flaws too but I'm just looking for a tv!

Also any plasma that I have read about have a resolution of 1024x768. Is this the case with all?
I was very tempted to go with TH42PX70 but I don't see the point if it takes a 1920x1080 signal and displays it on a lower 1024x768 panel.
Perhaps I'll not see the difference but you've got to agree that there would be less detail in the image than on a 1080p LCD screen

Did you purchase and if so what do you think of it? I saw one in Limerick today for €1200 and might purchase tho' I have a concern about the screen size in my livin room.
