Like the owl deadlifts myself, havnt been doing them all that long but it is amazing how quickly your strength builds up.I would say i like bench pressing but that would be a lie,a dirty lie!

It varies, but at the moment I'm big into the oul power cleans. There is something to be said about shifting a lot of weight fast. Like deadlifts there is a king kong feeling associated with power cleans grrrrrrrrrrr.

Just googled 'deadlift' cos I hadn't a notion what you guys were talking about and I realised they're my favourite too! I do em all the time and (more to the point!) I appear to be doin em right as well! :)

I had been callin em "squats" tho :o

Tbh i like nearly all the exercises, i do like Back work so Good mornings,Sumo Deadlifts and Chins/Pulls would be amoung my favourite, im starting to like Squats now since im more used to them and lifting heavier, only started Squatting in Feb. The one exercise i DON'T look forward to though are Bulgarian Split Squats! They are very effective but damn are they one tough exercise!

I know its bent, but bicep curls!

The lactic acid burn is so good,i enjoy the way u get the burn straight away. Doesnt happen for most exercises!

Hmmmm, Deads are always at or close to the top of my list, power cleans as well......nothing like tearing up 100kilos at a rate of knots!

Every since i hurt my shoulder i have realised how much i truly love really heavy pressing! I can't wait till it's better!

Yeah, those things really hurt. I still like them, though!

My current faves are overhead squatting and push pressing. Just to be weird :)

    Front lever pull ups.

And from the more mundane list i'd have to say bulgarian split squats or maybe power cleans

Any links to a graphic showing a bulgarian whatsit please? Thanks...

rope pull downs. just love the burn.

not a huge fan of deads as my grip is crap and usually the deciding factor in how much weight I can shift.

most hated is squats, always nervous when I am squating. When I wake up on squat day I know its going to be a long day. Saturday is squat day this week

Squats, give the exact same feeling I'd get when powering up a steep hill on a bike. Great burn. I've also really started to feel them in the abs as the weight has gone up.

I was gonna post another thread for this but...meh. I'm trying to get into deadlifts on low enough weight but I'm not sure on my form (my gym has no mirrors). Towards the end of my sets I'm feeling pressure in my lower back on them. Is this because I'm losing proper form and my back is bending on the lift? Finally, when you're doing a set of DLs do you let the bar come to rest on the ground every time or let it hover just above? Thanks.

    Chin ups and dips.

Have only started doing them recently enough so I'm getting good enough at them.
I'm doing deadlifts with dumbells and it sucks, cant really max out on them as I can only lift so much before my grip gives out...

LOL at the King Kong comments, i agree though, the deadlift feels like a very primal lift. There are few things more satisfying than heavy deadlifting.

Another primal lift is the pullup. Unfortunately many people treat pullups differently to other lifts and do too many reps instead of adding resistance. I would say that heavy weighted pullups and one armed pullups are my favourite lift closely followed by deadlifting then overhead pressing, then squat and bench.

Have you tried chalk? Helps a lot. Climbing chalk works fine. And you can train your grip to be stronger too. Farmers walks seemed to do it for me. Especially after deadlifts.

You'll feel it in your lower back muscles with proper form alright. If you're not sure if you're rounding or not, best bet is either video yourself or get someone to watch you lift who can tell you. Do put the bar on the ground and take a short pause to reset your form before you do the next rep.

Its more of a pressure on the lower back rather than a feeling of 'being worked'. Its not something I'd associated with muslce work, it doesn't feel comfortable or safe. Same sort of feeling when you try and lift something with back and not knees.

Did some reading and I may have spotted problem. Either I'm not keeping the bar close enogh to my body or (more likely) I'm straightening my legs too early on the last of the reps. Theres one instructor in my gym who looks like he lifts so might ask him to look at my last set.

p.s the farmers walk looks interesting, might try it out.

For me it would have to be deadlifting, though its prob because its the one lift i never had any real bother with* and it makes me feel strong!

(in contrast with benching and squating)

    Your sick.

    I like Deadlifts.

It depends what sorta mood I'm in...

I REALLY can't think of anything that beats the feeling of sitting back with a heavy ass squat and not knowing if you're actually gonna come up with it. It takes so much focus tho and is so mentally draining.

There's nothing like making 100+kg feel weightless when you hit a perfect hang clean.

Same goes for snapping the bar overhead in one motion on hang power snatches...

And if I'm truly fired up and feeling disgustingly brutal then an all out deadlift attempt is the way to go.

Already answered last week. With conventional deadlifts each rep starts and ends on the ground. And as I mentioned, this also gives you a chance to check your form between reps and stop it degrading.

My gym is so crappy,i was told to set the bar down "gently" when doing deadlifts as it could DAMAGE THE WEIGHTS!!Never mind about damaging my bleeding back!!
