    Hi Lads,

I'm having a problem with my new rig playing divx movies..

even when i try to play them through vlc i get green lines down through the left hand side of the screen

    Any Thoughts?

And wot divx/xvid bundle/version is the best?

    thanks

    Daz

Just get the divx codecs. The klite pack has way to much ****e in it. Try the interlacing options in vlc to see if you can get rid of the green lines. But vlc dosent need a codec to play divx files. So this is quite weird. Also try real media player. That works well too.

Agreed about not downloading those codec packs, they can be more trouble than they are worth.

    The thing is ..

The system is running XP right... Dvd's play fine, all my old divx tv shows play fine, its just the newer ones that the problem seems to with

I'll try the interlacing options when i get home and post back later.

    thanks

They might be encoded using a newer version of the codec that isn't entirely compatible with the decoder you're using. Try going to the DivX website and getting the latest version.

    Right lads...Prob sorted.

Checking the"deinterlacing" box in VLC preferences sorted it out for me

    Thanks again.
