Almost. It annoys me 49% as much as it annoys you.

    Monosyllabic pronouncements of "Film", FTW!

And we should all speak in monotonous BBC style RP pronunciations yes?:D

Does it really matter? It's all down to people's accents, there's no reason why it should annoy you.

Fil-im \o/ but as Mr.Hungus mentioned it is down to the accent. You could avoid that whole bees nest and call it a movie instead. :)

What annoys me is I say film and movie in equal amounts. It gets irritating to keep catching myself doing it. Anything pronounced wrong is kind of annoying, but it doesn't bother me.

With my accent i say it with 2 syllables but i really can't help it! It got really bad when i went to college and got such a slagging for basically every other word i say. Now i just say Movie and that annoys everyone even more! I can't win. My Dad still calls it the pictures instead of cinema "You going to the picturehouse?etc."

I still "go to the pictures" but i think thats quite a scottish thing.

    Fil-im - Skanger.
    Fil-um - Mucker.
    Motion Picture - Americans.
    Film - Everyone else.

Nuke Dublin, it'll solve this and many other problems (Gerry Ryan, Glenda Eyebrows, scumbags/skangers/wahhs/buds/D4ers, the dangerous wobbly Spike, high crime, Bertie's fat face).

Sometimes, on a really nice summer day, I can squeeze a snaky extra third syllable: Fil-i-um.

Every now and again I let slip that I'm going to the 'CiMena'.
