    Hi
I'm just wondering does anyone know if you fail an exam in your final year in DCU is your whole degree considered to be a pass even if you do very well in the repeat?
And also if you fail again in august and repeat the year is your degree still a pass or can you improve your result by repeating the year?

    Thanks!

Depends on teh degree programme you are in. There are several variations on rules, but default is a pass grade... Not to be confused with a pass vs Hons degree.

I believe that if there is some evidence that the initial exam was a unfair that there are some exceptions to the rule. They did that for a friend of mine, where nearly his entire year failed the same exam!!!

I also think that the rule for final year students is shortly going to be reviewed and maybe even changed!!:D

Depends on the course. Some Courses use the standard Grading system. Probably best to speak to head of the course or one of the lecturers about it.

Usually the way the repeat exams work is that you get a pass grade for the subject if you failed it the first time around, regardless of how well you did in the repeat.

Some courses don't allow repeat exams in the final year. I know EE doesn't anyway, but they compensate for that in other better ways.

I'd Say if you can repeat the exams in the autumn for your final year then you'll get a pass grade for each subject you repeated(assuming you achieve above the pass mark), but your overall grade will be judged on the average result after the pass grades have been awarded.

Fail them again  Surely you can't expect to pass them all without putting a bit of effort into studying

I think it depends on what comes up on your exam results. If it says failed an exam element then you won't have to repeat any of the lab work. It explains it all on your results page
