    Hi there,

I hope someone here can help with this stuff because I'm a dunce when it comes to tax.

I'm working for an umbrella company - as a result I can claim expenses, including the fees for a course I'm planning to do. I asked the company rep about how it works when claiming such an amount (1600-euro) and she replied that "the course fees go as an expense against your gross pay so if you submitted them this month you would be saving on your tax and PRSI"

Can someone please explain this to me in plain english? I'd be much obliged!!!

    Thanks!
