shop assistant trouble

Was reading the post about rude shop assistants and waitresses and felt I had to post this to see what other boarders would do...

Went into local supermarket on Thursday...got my shopping....went to the till..paid...checkout assistant gives me back my change...€30 too much in the change...so i politely point out she made a mistake and handed back the €30. No thanks or nothing...

    Heres where it gets interesting
Went into same supermarket on Friday...got my shopping....went to the till..paid...same checkout assistant as previous day gives me back my change...€20 too little in the change...so i politely point out she made a mistake and as for the €20...cant do that she says...i couldnt have made a mistake...your change has to be right...this continues for 30 seconds at which point i say...look wait till you cash up at the end of the day and if your €20 over give me a call. Waited that evening, Saturday, Sunday, Monday bumped into the same girl outside the shop on Tuesday..told me to go to the managers office to get my money back..

What really maddens me is that i gave back the money the day before...i was hardly going to try and pull a fast one the next day with the same member of staff. Family had shopped in that shop since it opened over a hundred years ago...never again.

She's obviously ditzy. Just go to the manager and tell them what happened on both days.

Don't all shops have security cameras in case of robbery and to deter staff from stealing? I'm not saying the checkout girl is stealing but she badly needs some training even if some unkind people called it an unskilled job.
And before you say staff can't steal as the till has to be balanced, I've worked as a barman and have seen all the tricks.

OP, what you should have done was say: I'm in no rush, and I'm happy to view videos all afternoon in the managers office. You should never have left the store without the money.

Don't let this put this off shopping just for one staff member though.
Sure she mighn't be there after the summer holidays.

Btw, did you leave your number with the store?
You were expecting a call but I don't see anything about leaving contact detaild.

Sadly, she sounds too thick to be trying to con you. Twice in two days with one customer she's made errors in the tens of euros - do everyone a favour and have a word with the manager, although I doubt she'll still be there next time you go back at this rate.

    That's unacceptable.

    He remembered her.

Surely the till reciept would have proven you right? Unless she had entered the wrong amount, which would be fairly serious from management's POV (since that's how money ends up 'going missing')

Either way, agree with posters above - I'd never have left without my money, especially as given the rate at which she seems to make mistakes, the till could just have easily have ended up under.
