    Hi

I'm after a CD player for a Ford Focus (1999), does anyone know where I can get one?

eBay's no good and they few main dealers I've called are looking for 400 quid.

    Thanks in advance
    Bren

Try a local scrap yard. www.traynors.co.uk might have one too. Also try the buy & sell or www.adverts.ie

I'm surprised that you can't find one on eBay.

A quick search turned up this http://cgi.ebay.ie/Ford-6000-CD-player-Fiesta-Escort-Transit-Focus-Mondeo_W0QQitemZ200122824228QQihZ010QQcategoryZ75320QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
CD players for Mondeos, Fiestas and Transits should fit your Focus, so be sure to search for them too.

Thanks for the help. It's not that I can't find any on ebay. I don't want to wait for 6 days for an auction to end and then another 3 for the item to arrive.

you can get any cd player to fit the focus you just need to buy a fascia from ford to cober up the extra din space, looks far nicer and neater than the standard ford bulky one

You're almost as impatient as I am. Is 9 days all that long? - especially if it's what you want at the right price ;)

I fitted an after market radio to my sisters Fiesta (same size) and the fascia adaptor cost €30 from Halfords. I'm sure that they do remote control adaptors as well but if not they can also be found on eBay.

No way! The standard one is class. Has nice big buttons and is very usable. It also has nice things like automatic volume control that adjusts the volume according to the road speed/rpm.

Most aftermarket ones are just plain dangerous. Too many functions in too small a space. A car radio should sound good, but most importantly be very easy to use without looking at the controls.

If Ebay isnt an option then scrapyards are the way to go.

So true. Ease of operation combined with good sound is hard to achieve. But the Ford audio systems are easy to use but the sound quality can be lacking. It's not the worst - just lacking.

Steering wheel controls should still work when an aftermarket stereo is fitted. My parents' cars (omega and rav-4) both have aftermarket head units and both steering wheel controls still function fully. A small adapter is needed i think, but i'm not sure.

If you ask in a shop they should be able to tell you for sure. Halfords is the first name that springs to mind, but anywhere that sells stereos (except argos!) will know the score.
