There are three providers of Motor Trade Road Risk insurance in the market.

    ARB Underwriting

    St. Paul Travellers

    Quinn Direct

ARB & St. Paul's Travellers will not deal with you directly, you have to go through a broker to deal with them.

Quinn Direct I have found are the easiest to deal with, and don't make you go through a middleman/broker to deal with them. The main part of the policy is Road Risks which allows you to drive customers cars or basically any car in connection with your motor trade business. You can add on extra cover like service indemnity, public liability, employers liability, etc. which is well worth the extra few quid for the peace of mind.

Expect to have your head wrecked when trying to get this cover in place. Brokers will mess you around, give you one quote then ring you back with another one two weeks later, won't return your calls, etc. Also, expect to pay around 5K for first time insurance of this type for a small operation and to have to pay it up front. Your best bet is to get onto Quinn Direct, you're dealing with a decision maker and can get a quote in 1 day, no middlemen to slow things down and they will also let you pay your premimum over the period of cover, not like ARB & St. Paul Travellers.
