My Sky plus box is fcuked and I am thinking about buying one of the bigger hard drive boxes that are on ebay.Is this a good idea or should I just ring sky up for a new box...?

I'd try ringing Sky first, telling them that your Sky+ is knackered, and want a new model. See what they offer (maybe threaten cancellation).

What's the fault with your current box?

I have been onto Sky and they say they will send out an engineer but it will cost 100euro but they will guarantee he will get it going even if we need a new box.My thinking is why pay 100euro who I could pick a bigger memory box up on that net for a bit more than that.we were thinking about getting the bigger box anyway.

The sky box keeps wiping the hard drive,it has wiped it 4 times now and from last week it will not even record anything.

The Hard Drive may be kaput.

I'm sure I read in some other thread, about an offer Sky are doing, offering a new Sky+ box for existing Sky+ subbers for €150 as an upgrade or something.

Newer models have 160gb. However, only 80gb is available for you to record on. The other 80gb is reserved for Sky Anytime.
