    Komplett Intel Entry 2

I was thinking of upgrading my current set-up but as I'll need a new OS as well I might as well buy a complete box and have two PCs. Anyone got the above deal? It looks a decent price for the spec.

    Well Mike,

There's nothing wrong with that buy but it depends on what you want to do with it?

I think that the rule of thumb is more or less this,
if you need processing power (for the likes of video trans-coding) then Intel is the way to go.
If gaming is your thing? then AMD seems to be the preferred choice.

You could argue all day about the Pros & cons as to the type of processor & the speed of the RAM & so on but it all boils down to what you want it for & the price. At the end of the day you would pay €175 for the OEM version of Vista Ultimate on its own for example?

I would say that there's nothing wrong with that machine for that money if it suits your needs. Komplett do assemble a very tidy box too.

Mike I'd say keep an eye on Dell.ie for a bargain. You'll get a much better deal. My new machine arrived on Monday all for E550. I'm delighted with it:

    Amd 5000+
    20inch widescreen TFT
    2GB Ram
    320GB HD
Media Card Reader 13-in-1 Internal 1
    DVD+/-RW
    ATI Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB
Audio Integrated HDA 7.1 Dolby Digital capability
    Vista Home Basic

    Hey Dave,

Is that deal still going for the machine you got?

    Cheers

Afraid not. Finished on the June 15th. It really is a superb PC. The LCD is class. Well pleased with it. Best bargain I've got in a while.

I am looking for a good system from dell for my girlfriends mum. In around the price bracket for 500 to 600 Euro. That system you got Daveg sound perfect.. any links to it.

Edit.. aw well. If anybody knows of something else that’s suitable, please let me know.

daveg that looks like a lot of system for the money. Damn! To think I paid 750 olde pounds for a 133 with 32mb memory and 10GB drive once. :(

I'll be using the next PC for music creation, it does'nt need to be ultra-fast only stable and with a few expansion slots and good amounts of storage.

    Ever thought of www.hardwareversand.de

takes quite a while to deliver but it's MUCH cheaper than komplett or any of those sites.

I think Tusky used it, PM her/him. ;)

Ya Hardwareversand are looking great. I really was hoping for a good deal on Dell as I don’t want to be technical support if I can help it.
